We are headed to Shipshewana tonight. We were scheduled, we thought, to have our washer/dryer and dishwasher installed at Tiarria RV in Elkhart, but when we called to make sure everything was ready we were informed that they did not have us scheduled until Wednesday. I don't know where the error occurred, but next time we are going to do email so we have a paper trail.

We also try to have a hard copy confirmation on things. If we use the phone, I request that they email me a confirmation. It makes sure that both sides are on the same wavelength.

About the only thing we belong to anymore is good sam. When we traveled more we had Good Sam, Passport, and belonged to Western Horizon. Now when we go, we plan our route, and than check on line for campgrounds in the area that we want to spend the night. We select the ones that have easy access and aren't to far from our route. If any of them are Good Sam, we pick them for the discount.

At the lake not far from home in central Texas. Picked up our RW after almost four weeks but all the things we took it in for after our first outing have been taken care of and so far no new issues! Repaired the microwave, moved our booster switch so we could reach it and several other little things. We are happy campers for sure!!! Have to pinch ourselves every once in awhile!!

I know I am a little tardy, but, welcome to the forum fellow Hoosier. I think that makes 3 of us now.

Enjoy the factory tour and ask a lot of questions.

Factory tour was great and we did ask a lot of questions. My dad went with us and I think he was very impressed with the tour and the quality going into the Redwood RV. If you're close to Syracuse, IN I highly recommend the tour.

I take it that you are taking delivery of your Redwood on Wednesday at Tiara RV. That is where we ordered our 2012 36RL. Scott Davidson was the Service Manager when we did our PDI and walk through. He seemed like a very good and knowledgeable person. Hope all goes well for you.

Foxfire...where will you be staying in Lake George? We make the trip up that way often; winter camping in the 'Dacks and our daughter goes to school in Vermont.

Stayed this last week at Crystal Lake Resort in Naples, FL. Arrived to find we were parked across the street from another Redwood! Met the very nice owners and had a great conversation. We're headed to the Orlando area on Monday, then we're heading up the east coast.

Water Smell

We have a weird odor to our water and it is kind of a chemical smell. We have flush the water tanks and emptied the grey and black water but still have the smell. What could it be and what remedies do you use? Do you use bleach and if so what is the ratio that you use? Some have told us they think it might be antifreeze but in the fresh water tank? I was told they don't use antifreeze in the fresh water tank even when winterizing because they blow all the water out of those pipes. Thanks for your help!

We have done both and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Hot or cold doesn't make a difference nor the source..kitchen sink toilet shower. We are at a total loss.

If you're getting the smell everywhere, on both water sources it would have to be some area that is common to the entire fresh water system, there are very few components common to this and you can't readily get to any of them. You may want to flush the entire system with a bleach solution to kill off any critters or organisms in the water lines themselves??? If you do this I would take the filter element out and dispose of it, after you've flushed the system install a new cartridge.

Talking Traveling again.

Well we finished up the cars in Denton TX now we have hit the road and moved to Reading PA. Wow what a haul. I haven't been in the north east for a few years and have gone through a few trucks in that time. I have to say this 2011 GMC 1 ton has come a long way. My older trucks would hit those mountains and just chug and slow down to 35 mph. Now I'm pull 19000lbs and had the cruse on for most of the drive and set at 70 mph and I was passing those big rigs like never before. I kept waiting for it to slow down but it never did. I could not be more pleased with it.

When I sterilise our system I use just over 2 cups of regular household bleach.

I partially fill the tank then mix small quantities of bleach in a gallon jug filled with water, which I pour into the tank with the aid of a funnel. It probably takes about 8 fills of the jug to get the bleach sufficiently diluted to pour in.

Do not pour the bleach directly into the tank, as it isn't good for the pipes or tank.

Top off the tank until full and then draw the solution through the pipes to each outlet until you smell bleach coming through. I then let it sit overnight and flush it out in the next day.

Takes a few flushes to get rid of the bleach smell/taste. Once flushed I install a new filter cartridge.

Andy gave a good way to sanitize...here is a webpage which also gives instruction...How to Sanitize Your RV Fresh Water System...
a little different procedure but with the same results. Pay special attention to NOT adding the bleach, undiluted, directly into the water system, it must be diluted to prevent damage to the components!!

Good luck!!!
