Goodyear G rated they are 2 years old. I contacted the Goodyear dealer here at home, and he will replace all 4 and defect them out. I have been buying tires from him for years.

2 days prior to travel I repacked all 4 wheel bearings with Amsoil grease cleaned all the wheels inside and out, all pressures were checked to be 110#, the tires were all rebalanced and rotated in a crisscross pattern. after 35 miles of highway time at 62MPH I had a blow out. nothing in the road that I know of.

I think in this case a TPMS would not have helped at all. the tires were not hot the pavement was about 60* and the travel was slow. I really believe the tire had a defect. and after sitting all winter, going out for it first early spring trip it just let loose.

There's good and bad with 3 axles.

the good is that the tire could be lower rated and easier to find. They also could run with less air pressure which would make for a better ride. With a 3ard axle, I believe frame flex would be greatly reduced.

The bad....tire scrub while turning, most state would require more expense for license plates, and more maintenance due to more brakes and bearings.

Regardless of weight I think a third axle should be put under anything over 39 ft long just for stability issues.

I agree if it was a catastrophic failure. However, I still maintain that a reliable TPMS is cheap insurance.

Did you keep any remnants of the blown tire? Several people on here have said that Goodyear is a great company to deal with when this happens. I believe several have said that Goodyear even paid for damages to their Redwood. It would be worth a call to Goodyear or have the dealer contact Goodyear.

There are some who question if it's really a good thing to rotate tires, especially on trailers. They feel that the tires tend to get worn-in at a certain position and if you move them around the tires get exposed to different forces.
The only reason I bring this up is most tire failures reported are on the early RWs that shipped with under rated "E" Marathons and failures on the "G" 614s is very rare.
Also did you check to see if Goodyear would pay for the repairs to your RW? They are generally pretty good if one of their tires fails and causes damage.

I called my local Goodyear center and all 4 tires are going to be replaced, as defective. as far as the body damage goes that is GEICO's problem.

Oh my. That is brutal damage. Trust all of you are doing okay. The replacement body parts, from RW took about two weeks to receive. The longest delay was all the painting for the swirly graphics and matching paint type and color hues. Having the shop that painted it for RW initially, and located a few miles from the RW factory could have helped. The repairs took one month.

Guys, its a great day when that's all I "Did to my Redwood Today" !!!!!

Today is one of the first days I have been setup in the direct sun with current outside temp in the mid 90s since the last A/C mods / corrections I made this winter with the A/C returns. The rear A/C unit cycles on and off occasionally as the interior temperature is maintained at 72 degrees.

New 17.5 Tires I bought from Ron will arrive in Tallahassee FL tomorrow, my BIL is going to pick them up and get the balanced for me, I will travel to Tallahassee FL from Tampa on Friday and install them. I think I have a buyer for my old G614s that wants to come by next weekend

I am a Happy Camper today !!!!

That's a good day, the way it should be when you do not have to whip out your tool belt and fix something that broke or modify something that was designed or built poorly !!!!
