Air ride for your RW

I am ready to pull the trigger on a "Trailer Flex" Full air ride that I will install this winter. Does any one have any experience with them?. I have spoke with them a few times and always are very informative and are quick on returning emails

At $4500+ for the air ride I think I'd go with the MorRyde IS system, save about a $1000 & not have to deal with air or where to mount all the associated hardware. Not to mention I believe MorRydes customer service is 2nd to none!

By the time you get that shipped installed and hope that you dont have problems your going to be at $5000 . 8K morryde is just over 4300 installed and warrenty by them. true you need to get the trailer to them and that has a cost but I can tell you its way more robust of a design then the air ride , plus thousands of units on the road with millions of miles of real world testing compleated . The alinement is a big part of getting it installed correctly , not just a tape measure and string. The Morryde guys install about 4~5 every week , 52 weeks a year. When I was there in 2018 I spoke with the shop manager about prefab the rolling skids so they could book more install per week. Mine took 2 - 3/4 days due to adding disk brakes and 8K IS . I will never own a 5th wheel at this weight without it , Its that good. We leave the glass coffee maker on the counter every trip , its in the same spot after 500 miles of rough roads in the north east. Disk brakes are priceless , night and day batter then 7K drums!

I don't know where you plan to travel or setup a Home Base, but reading the instruction with that Air Ride System, it has to be Winterized if stored in a cold climate. Plus I'm not a big fan of air bags and such as we had several Tri-Glide King Pins and they needed air just about before every trip.

I agree with ALL of the above posters...

For the $$$, you easily into the MORryde realm...I believe that the 7K IS is around $4500 or so all in.. Yo will NOT have to worry about air bags, leaks air lines, airing up, winterizing..

They ONLY BAD thing about going with the Morryde is that they are booking now for early 2023 ! ! yup, their that good and well worth it

The IS is currently 5500 with the brakes 3200 More so you are looking at 8700 for tandem 8k......

When I had mine done, they really wanted to install 7K . They claimed that there 7K would have no problem with 14,000lbs on the wheels. I scaled mine the day before I got to Elkhart, I was 12,800 on the wheels not including pin weight (just over 17000 total) If I recall. If you do the disk brakes you can put 8K disk on 7000 running gear, its the same stub shaft just differnt bearings on the outside. The frame work they ad for the 8K is about 600 lbs more the then 7K so if you have any thought about being over weight that extra steel will mater. the trailing arms on the 8K are heavier also , My feeling was it will hold the wheel alinement better because it never flexing. Ride wise the 8K is good , we leave the glass coffee pot on the counter no matter where we are going.

One other thing to add about the installation of the IS. If the trailer is not pretty level with the truck they will not install the IS. I ran into this when they installed mine. They had to raise the trailer to make it level. That ran the installation with 8k system and disc brakes to about 10 grand. BUT it made a world of difference in the way it towed.

Not sure I want to spend 10 grand. It just keeps going up and up......The LRE4100 it came with should be good enough but I hate the springs breaking, which has never happened to me but you never know. I thought about not doing the disc brakes but everyone on here says it should be done.......I'm just trying to make it not rattle and bang going down the road....

Wow! I had the IS installed in March of 2020 for $4600. That was the 8K system. I had already installed the disc brakes 2 years prior. I did the brakes myself for $1800 from PTB. Amazing how the prices (of everything) are going up. I went with the IS to get rid of all the components and issues that come with leaf springs on these heavy 5th wheels. I broke a wet bolt and then a spring hanger. That sealed the deal for me. I don’t have to worry about it anymore and plan to keep this 5’er for quite some time. Just had the RV Armor roof installed so I hope (read I think) I’m covered.

Our trailer had the LCI rubber center point similar to the LRE4100 , the IS rides much smoother. We had 7K springs and axle original . WE had molding every trip come loose , cabnets started pulling off the wall , roll up shades falling off the brackets. Since the return trip back from Elkhard I have had ZERO rough road repair issues.

How far out of level were you?? My 2016 needed a 2” or 2-1/2” riser installed and I believe that added around $800 maybe ?????? My 2020 sits pretty close to level..
