15,880 lbs. Subtracting our 290 lb generator, you'll be closer to 15,500 Jerry, but I will say we collected about 400 more lbs since that day, and with water, food, clothes we are 17,222. Not sure where this got spun off on a tangent.
I never said no RW weighs over 15k. I also don't have the dishwasher. Do you have 40# propane tanks? I don't carry water. I don't have the generator. Didn't I say I'd be around 15- 15,500K? I never said anything about RWs, other than I don't think any weigh 15k, according to dry weights. I can't comment on, if someone puts tons of weight in their rv, that most people don't. If they put a deep freeze, and 700lbs in it, that is a game changer, or always carry a full tank of freshwater. I never carry either. I always carry the bare essentials in cookware, and other kitchen items.

Yea, not sure where everybody felt the need to jump on my guesstimates.

Right. You carry things I don't carry.

I don't carry water or food. I also don't have a genny, or dishwasher. I don't keep acquiring stuff as I go, because I don't full-time. What I collect as I stay for a couple of years at a job(food, and other stuff) is never there when I tow. My rvs, when towing, are always at the bare minimum. If I am vacationing for a couple of weeks, I tow with fridges, tanks empty, and get what we need when at destination. We leave with empty fridges, and water tanks, for the most part.

^But, like you and I have agreed on, people get too worried about some of the numbers, when pin wgt is the main one that matters. Any of the big 3 diesel 1 ton, duallys, will tow just about any 5th wheel made, but pin wgt is where the trouble happens.

Why do the Dodges weigh so much less than the equivalent Fords? The DRW Dodge weighs less than a SRW Ford...

That's interesting. Do you have some actual numbers? Could it be this new frame technology. I think it's called Hydroformed, or something like that. I do know that it is a fully boxed frame providing a significantly stiffer frame than the Ford. You've probably seen the video showing the Ford and RAM on the ramps flexing such that the tailgate on the Ford is damaged. Chevy's fully boxed frame also tested without damage to the tailgate.

There has been significant weight difference for over a decade - it always handicapped Ford a bit on payload.

Ah, the old truck war videos - I remember a 1970 Ford twin I-beam jumping over a cliff next to a Chev A-frame. Ford said the Chev frame bent in half, and Chev said the Ford frame twisted inward. Neither truck looked drivable afterward, nor would anyone do that to their truck on purpose, but persuasive propaganda has its place.

I think I saw in the back room of my Dealer parts area where he had spare tailgates stacked up like tires, due to all those tailgates bending out there

Wasn't looking to start a truck war. Just seemed curious. It would be interesting to see side by side weight comparisons for things like engine, frame, body parts, etc.

As for frame flex videos. Ever see a video of a semi truck flexing? Tons of flex. Each brand engineers their trucks differently, then marketing tries to dumb it down and overstate its actual value to customers.

Each manufacture shows what they think will sell more trucks. All 3 are good trucks and each have their pluses and negatives.

^What Dave said. I wouldn't be afraid to own any of the big 3. I just happen to be a huge Cummins fan.

It's not the flexing per se, it is the need to replace the damaged tailgate because of the flexing.

Absolutely! I had Fords for 30 years. I take it that you think it was fake. Oh well.

No, the damage may have not been fake, but the whole premise of the test was certainly contrived

Lot's of marketing going on 'round heyer

I think they've all come a long ways in the last 5 years - out of necessity !

None. But how does that change the facts? Don't forget that the GMC products also had no problems. Only the Ford.

Didn't you see my video? Chev and Dodge are dangerous to tow with. Only Ford is safe. It has to be fact, because it was on the internet
