I think his point was this.....since we don't see a rash of Fords with damaged tailgates rolling down the roads....the test was BS.

I live in a rural area where the local boys run through mud bogs and through fields. We don't see warped tailgates. That means either the truck was modified in the video or they put strain on a vehicle that couldn't be duplicated by farm boys running across a field chasing deer while drunk.

I'm in the marketing business and I think it's a shame when companies stoop to this level. Don't get me wrong, all 3 of the companies do this type of marketing....smoke and mirrors.

The frame flex issue became front and center with me with my 2008 Ford and my heavy slide-in camper. I had a tremendous problem with 'porpoising'. http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/...camper-207966/ I was able to significantly improve the handling at a truck spring shop.

There have been other threads on frame flex, frame resonance, etc. http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/...railer-426514/ http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/...45-mph-269630/
Anyhow, it was my personal experience that made me sensitive to the issue. The frame flex test illustrated the problem that I and others had. Chevy and RAM now use fully boxed frames. Hence much added stiffness to the frame. It was thought at one time that Ford would to that for the 2015. I don't know if that happened.

The crushed tailgate just illustrates the frame weakness, not that you would expect to see crushed tailgates on the road.

BTW, I really liked my Fords. I went to RAM because of the Cummins. I got a little nervous with Ford blaming major problems and cab off repairs on the customer with water in the fuel. But that's another story.

So why wouldn't your worship of box frame follow through on RVs as well - Lifestyle and DRV use "box frames" if you are so inclined.

I'll stick to rubbing the belly on the C-frame Ford and I-Beam Redwood and just ignore the truck forums. Who needs a tailgate with a 5er anyway

Whatever. I can tell from your tone that you have become defensive. Kind of like the 'smoke screen' and deflections politicians put out.

Why of course I became defensive - but still I held back from throwing mud at your Dodge product.

I have now gone from defensive to indifferent and bored with your nonsense.

Brad, better hold on to that truck, 2016's will be boxed aluminum frames. They claim stronger and lighter.

I am one of those redneck country boys that Dave refers to and I also have both a Ford and a Dodge and believe it or not my Dodge tailgate is a piece of junk vs. the Ford tail gate and it has nothing to do with the frame. Also as mentioned before you don't need a tailgate to tow any way.

On my new RW, the certified weight, leaving the factory was 13,466. Not too bad, considering it has the W/D set, and 2 Acs.
