Better news...the full load of the coach is not on the wheels, remember the truck shares the load. What is the pin weight, this load is carried by the truck so the axles are carrying the weight not transferred to the truck. For example lets assume your rig weighs 16K and the pin weight is 3K...16K minus 3K equals 13K so the suspension of the rig would be carrying 13K.

I have 8K axles and G-rated tires, my coach came with a GVWR of 16.5K, I asked Redwood to reevaluate and they sent me a new sticker with a 17.5 GVWR. My total weight is ~17K, the pin weight is ~3.5K so I'm loading the wheels/axles with ~13.5K

Thanks 'On The Road'. That makes sense, but how do I get the pin weight nailed down?

All of what you stated is correct for the E rated tires. I have the same year and model with the G range tires. I have 7K axles. My GVWR is 16.5K. My wheels are 3750. Please remember a good chunk of your weight is on the pin. The tires are a whole different issue and more of a concern than your axle rating.

Thank you 'GA1817'. Did you change the tires and wheels out? What tires and wheels do you have?

TexasRver,
You'll need to grab some actual weights of your truck and truck/trailer combo to get your pin and axle weights.

Because I'm feeling lazy I'll point you to a website rather than explaining it. It's pretty simple once you understand the process. The worst part is you'll have to hook up the RV to get one of the weights needed to determine everything.

This forum was a life saver for me. I personally was not impressed with RW when I looked at new units in 2013. I would crawl up under new units on a lot and observe rust busting out everywhere on the frame. The salesman wold just say get a wire brush and some paint But man the insides and outsides were sure beautiful and other than the frame they appeared well built. Fast forward to late last year and I was only looking at used DRV and Newmar units when we decided to open it up to a used RW to satisfy the DW on a more modern coach. From reading this forum there was two "got to have" things for me, disc brakes and G rated tires. Other than that the DW let me find one with full body paint!

Around 3000 lbs gets carried by the truck on the pin leaving approximately 3200lbs per wheel.

Dean, my T02s will be 3 years old this March & look like brand new - but I'm a freak about the RW. Others may have a different experience.

I believe DRV is short for Doubletree Mobile Suites. Yes my wheels are 16 inch. DW is Dear Wife!

DW is known as Dear Wife or Devoted Wife. I had to ask someone before also. Didn't know as I had never seen that before.

OK, see if I can get caught up.
I have HiSpec Aluminum Wheels purchased as a complete assembly, mounted and balanced from Trailer Tires and Wheels out of Ohio.
Sounds like RW may have made a goof. If you only have G tires on 8K axles, the axle rating has to be de-rated down to the capacity of the tires, thus
2 x 3750 = 7500 per axle

I had problems with cracked wheels on our Jayco Pinnacle and replaced them with High Spec wheel similar to Michelle & Ann's post.
Thought we were good to go, then tire pressure sensor went off just outside Phoenix AZ last spring.
One of the High Spec wheels was cracked !!!
They shipped a replacement to us when we got to California, no more problems.
Sure hope we have no issues with our Sendel Wheels on our Redwood.

Nope, we came back to the East coast last summer.
We were only in the West coast for a few months, back in Florida right now.
We will probably be back out West sometime this year, just not sure when.
