TIRES....Let's talk tires

Greetings...I have a 2012 36RL with the original factory Goodyear Marathon ST235/80R16 E load rated POJs (pieces of junk). I had a blowout and tore up some stuff. I want to put a set of good tires on with the highest load rating without going to 17.5in rims/tires. Any recommendations???

Hope this helps (having gone through that with the Marathons)

Save your tire carcass, take pictures and make notes...

Call or send an email to :
Property Damage Claims Team
Attention Dept. 805
200 Innovation Way
Akron, OH 44316
800-322-4682 (phone)
888-307-1920 (fax)
pdct@goodyear.com (e-mail)

They paid for the damages and replacement tire...
doesn't pay for the inconvenience, etc... but makes it easier to swallow !
good luck !

So far (knock on wood) the G614's have worked out well, but I'm a part timer at best...

I just went through the same thing. Replaced all of mine with updated tires and wheels. More than likely your wheels won't be able to support a higher load tire. Some pictures in the Photos section of mine. N/m pictures are no longer there. Here is the info on what I got to replace them with - LT235/85R16 LRG 14 PR Goodyear G614 RST Radial Tire on 16" 6 Lug Series 09 Black HD Aluminum Trailer Wheel. TrailerTiresandwheels.com.

Atom Ant....is the T02 wheel a 16" and what are the benefits? Got to be a lot of benefits on a retired annuity.

Radio Flyer, ( Skip )
Pretty sure the 7,000 and 8,000 axles are all 8 lug not 6. We just replaced our old Goodyear G614's with new Goodyear G614's. Had them balanced at the same time. Love them and their rating is like 3,750 lbs per tire.

Chris, Glad you caught that, don't want to put out there bad info. Fat fingered it. They are 8 lug not 6. My original wheels would only allow me to inflate the G614s to roughly 80lbs. That is why I went with new wheels. My unit came with the Marathons and under rated wheels.

I think my G614's are inflated to 110 psi. We met a gentleman at Gulf Shores State Park in Alabama during december who had f rated tires from the factory on his 36rl. Needless to say he had a blowout that took out his entire kitchen slide out skirt metal. Didn't look very pretty having that big piece missing. And with the dishwasher, washer/dryer combo and 6500 watt geny in our unit I know we are heavy also.

My take is; if you have to buy new wheels before you can upgrade to the G614s, you might as well just move up to the 17.5" wheels and GY 114s and put 99% of you tire worries to rest.

No specific advantage of the T02 over the T09 other than preference on style. They are both exactly the same size and have the same 3,750 lb rating for the G614 and probably the same price. They were both used by Redwood as I recently found out.

Your T03 are only rated to 3,580 lbs.

I just purchased two T02's. One which was to replace one that was cracked. I personally would not choose them other than I did not want to purchase 4! All four of mine had significant degradation to the clear coat which makes them somewhat unattractive. If they are a true Sendel wheel they will carry a lifetime warranty on cracking but only a year on the clear coat. From what i was informed there are knock offs out there so be aware. They suggested that the clear coat failure may be the result of exposure to road salts. I would be intrested in knowing if anyone else is experiencing failure of the clear coat on a T02.

I have issues with the clear coat on my wheels too. It's all starting to flake off.

I ordered the G614s on my '12 36RL and it came with the T02s that you pictured. I really like the looks of the T02.

Michelle, what wheels did you get for the 17.5s? I know you have a thread about this somewhere on here...

Yes they are a nice looking wheel, better looking than my T09. The best looking to me is the T03 and I was a bit disappointed when mine showed up without them.

Fifth Time how is the clear coat holding up on your T02's?

hell I don't know what they're named......I ordered the G tires from the factory with disk brakes. I have pulled mine quite a bit in the snow so I guess I've tortured them a bit and they've seen a lot of miles.

I am officially information saturated! I just found out that the axles under our coach are rated at 7,000lbs. 7,000 X 2=14,000. The sticker on the side of the coach says GVWR 16,000lbs. Isn't this coach supposed to have at least 8,000lb axles underneath it???? And then the issue of Redwood putting underated tires on the coach!!! Am I missing something? Are owners supposed to modify axles/wheels/tires to support the weight when the coach when Redwood should have done it right at the factory?
I am NOT a happy camper! Money doesn't grow on trees in Texas.

More good news.....the factory wheels from Redwood are stamped "max load range 3,580lbs"! 3,580 X 4=14,320lbs. The GVWR sticker on the coach says 16,000lbs. Am I missing something??? It looks like Redwood put the wrong axles, wheels, and tires on this coach! I am pretty disgusted at this point.
