Our version has led lights to indicate errors. I thought that it was a good idea to test your power source before pluging in. I have a padlock and chain on mine and it works fine. This way the box is safe for now and I didn't have to try and get into the bowels of our coach.

I went with the portable for the same reason.

Looks like the price for the LCHW50C has gone up ...

Progressive Industies: LCHW50C - $328.99 right now at Camping World</span>

</span>Progressive Industies: LCHW50C - $285.49 right now at RVupgrades.com</span>

Other option is the product #34560 from Surge Guard:

Surge Guard: 34560 - $329.99 but you can save an additional 30% if you are a Good Sam member.

My local dealer has quoted me </span>ATLAS#400-9 = $478.50 plus 13% tax of course!

</span>
However there is a nice comparison chart on www.rvupgradestore.com that clearly shows that the Progressive Industries offers much more than the Surge Guard product.

I think I will go with the Progressive Industries model with the remote display and I'll mount it inside the closet at the main control panel.

</a>Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C - $388 at Camping World
Now ... where to buy it from at a decent price and shipped to Canada ... always the challenge!

SO where did everyone mount their surge protector? Was it before the transfer switch or after it or just behind the breaker box. I have the generator prep and am getting ready to mount my surge protector. Just wondering where everyone mounted theirs. Im not sure if the shore power goes through out the 5er to the transfer switch or does it go to the breaker box then to the transfer switch? Anyone know?
