Looking for a Toy Hauler Genset

Hi to all.

Need some ideas of where to look - I’d like to add a genset to our coach (it has the prewire) but I really don’t want a propane one because of the limited run time. I’d like to see if I can find the whole setup including fuel tank and everything from a Toy Hauler. I would really, truly, rather have a diesel genset but the wallet says gas.

Any ideas on anywhere I should check, websites, wrecking yards, salvage places, etc ?

Thanks !a!

keep in mind the weight difference between the propane and diesel is more then double the weight plus fuel. I do agree that a 6500 watt Cummins would the best option and they are roughly $2000 more then propane plus the cost of building a tank. I had consider this road myself and If i where to do that I think I would put the tank behind the axles under the frame rails for a few reasons. Offset the weight from the pinbox and it would be very unlikely to ever drag on the ground . Putting it up front on the drop section of frame I could see possible to drag on a sharp incline. Large class A coaches would have a used one if you find a crashed or burned rig that is being parted out. You could look into a tank for propane in the bed of the truck and using hose to connect the trailer to the portable tank to make it easier to refill the tank in the truck with propane? I am not sure its not DOT approved connecting the two but you would not be driving connected and they do sell DOT large bolt in propane tanks.

That’s why I’m looking for a complete setup from a Toy Hauler. Their generator tank is in the rear of the coach and is usually at least 25-30 gals. If I can find a wrecked one, I’m thinking I’ll get brackets and all. Cummins has a 7000 diesel genset that is the same overall size and same footprint as the 5500/6500. Only weighs about 45 lbs more and is actually quieter than the gas in operation. However - it’s about $8k………..
