Bronze on the Equa Flex center piece & plastic in all of the spring eyes. I could just barely get grease into spring eyes even with raising the weight off of them, now I can grease all without any problem.

RomanyLife, after looking closer at the picture that may be the rubber from the Equa Flex coming out of the bottom bolts as on mine the top/spring eye is where the plastic bushing were. Your pic threw me off a second with no zerks til I realized you took it from the inside.

I had mine off the ground at the campsite yesterday crawling underneath. I grabbed one of the shackles on the equaflex side and it had about 1/4" play (bolts inside the spring hole). Does that mean the bronze bushings are shot?

Also you must clean them up very good after greasing or have never been greased, mine are covered in grease.

There will be a small amount of play with the rubber in the Equa Flex, I don't know if that's too much or not.

The black in the picture is hard plastic. Now, I am not sure of the technical details, but Todd could. The service center confirmed that our bushings were shot... Like I said, I am confident that RW will accept the warranty claim and I am hoping to ask them to pay the labor if we buy parts to have the Mor-Ryde put on there because I do not want the same system, it's not enough and it will fail again. We have BARELY towed this trailer. The difference in labor cost would be minimal. I realize that they will probably not cover the shackles on warranty after that, but I am willing to accept that. I don't want the equi-flex.

Probably. I have a new set of bronze bushings and wet bolts. The bolts are 9/16" diameter. The bushings are 11'16" OD and 19/32" ID. So the bolts are a loose fit inside the bushing (1/32" clearance) but not 1/4". I don't know the ID of the spring eye but no way is there 1/4" clearance. I believe I read that the bushings are a tight fit in the spring eye, which would be proper fit from an engineering point of view.

Should have pulled it while I was there to take a look, but I was worried I would end up disabled and I had to check out the next morning. I'll try it next week.
So are the wet bolt kits universal? I have the 8K springs.

Brad have you changed it previously to bronze
When either the plastic or bronze are shot completely it would be close to 1/4" of slop. The bronze bushings when new actually need to be tapped into the spring eye with a hammer. The wet bolt fits fairly snug into the bronze bushing but still where you can rotate the bolt with your fingers

No I haven't changed anything, but I think Danny said above that they are bronze at the Equaflex end.

So are the wet bolt kits universal? I have the 8K springs.
They come in two sizes for Equiflex suspensions. One size is 2-1/4" and the other is 3-1/8". I believe this refers to the inside width of the shackle.

Brad,
To see the correct fit of the bushing in the spring eye go back to the original post and photos in this thread.

Mine is 7k axles with the 3 1/8" shackles & I believe the only options were shackle length & tandem or triple axle. I believe Florida Rob used the shorter shackles when he installed the Mod Ryde 4000 SRE.

Yes, Gary Wheeler at MorRide said the shorter shackles should be used with the MorRdye SRE 4000 suspension installation.
Mr.
Eaton,
The SRE kit you need is an SRE2/733X. The wet bolt kit needed is a UO12-016.
Thanks so much for your interest in our products,

I've got spare shackles in the garage from Redwood - guess I'll just need to measure them. Is that total length or hole center to hole center?

It is the length of the bushing.

Are you sure it's the length of the bushing and not the shackle? If this is true than some have wider springs then others? I don't see how equipping with the Mor Ryde 4000 suspension would shorten the bushing because if that is the case then the springs would have to be replaced as well. Just trying to verify for everyone
