surge protection

So I am worried after reading the posts on the surge protector. The plug in the back of the RW was white not the normal color. This indicates to me that it may have taken a lightening strike and melted like one person described. How do we know if wires are safe appliances good and so on. We stay overnight at the dealer we bought it from tomorrow night which should give us a chance to look it over. TV's were all removed from the Unit which many dealers do around here due to theft.

John,
You would definitely be better off posting this in a new thread or a relative thread, as this is buried in redwood club interests and won't get the responses you are looking for.

If not electrically knowledgeable your best bet may to be get an electrician to check it out if you think you have been hit by lighting. Otherwise, you could hook up to a breaker protected source, with all your breakers off, and start testing circuits with a circuit tester and gradually work through the whole system.
