Wow, just looked at the Redwood web site. They are discontinuing the 31SL? Everything is "Dealer Stock Only" except for 5 models. Surely there must be more new models coming.

They now have the 341RL which is close to the same size and weight as the 31sl but gives you the rear window without having to sit sideways on the couch to watch tv

Shane,

The 340/3401RL has some interesting characteristics, but I would really like to stay under 35'.

I thought the same as you. But once you have it the extra 2 or 3 ft doesn't make a difference. As long as your truck will handle it the length is negligible the extra few ft makes a huge difference on your living space

I agree with Shane. The two models look identical with the exception of the entertainment setup. Don't see where there is two feet difference. Don't think you would really notice the two feet even if it is longer.

I love the looks of the 3401RL. The setup is exactly what I like and the added counter at the front of the kitchen is a real plus. I would consider one if I could ever see one. I think it is a big mistake for Redwood to eliminate the 31SL just as I thought it was a big mistake to eliminate the 34SK. Not everyone wants a looong rig but everyone wants the looks and quality of a high end unit. These fifth wheels just keep getting longer and longer. For those that want to drag a mobile home around the country, I think it's great. Those that want to stay with 35' and less have seen choices dwindle to a very few.

I saw the dealer that we bought our RW now has some of the new models on their website for sale. Website says on order and does not have a price. I am interested in looking at a 34Rl now that we are not full time I would like to have smaller trailer but don't want to give up the look of the RW to go smaller. Might be a good Fit

I agree on dropping the 34SK. Even our 34SK is almost 40 Ft. when measured from the very front to the back of ladder. We really still like it.

They all keep getting bigger. Back in 1978 my wife and I had a 23 ft TT that seemed huge. on occasion we'd see a 30ft but that was about the limit on the lengths. Now you can't hardly find a TT that small.

As a kid, I remember my family camping in a 19' Shasta that slept 8. with 6 kids in the family at the time and two parents we utilized every spot we could find and we loved it! Those family outings got me hooked on the lifestyle. Our kids enjoyed the many vacations in a camper and now, our son, with his 7 kids, is passing the experiences on with his 32' camper.

We're still in a 16' pop-up....looking forward to the upgrade , but I will miss the openness of the pop-up.

I've been into RVs since I was 16, and it always seemed that the smaller the unit, the more it slept, and the largest units out there catered to 2.

It still seems that way, with some exceptions. My daughter had a 22 ft Jayco bunkhouse that slept 6 with dinette down.

My very first camper was a 1984 19' Corsair.. the front table would fold down and double as the crib holder at nigh and nap times for our oldest

Our local Jayco and Keystone dealers have a bunch of TT's under 23'. They are basic and great for starters or vacations. Some have "take me home" prices in the range what our RW's full body paint cost!! There are more and more popups's, Class C's and van campers being offered locally that are compact and okay for vacations.

You can tell that the number of sales of low to mid units mfgs are pumping out has doubled or tripled by how difficult it is to get a reservation now days. Even smaller dealers have fields & fields of trailers for sale. There are even reality TV shows basically promoting "a trailer in every driveway".

Even a few years ago you could take a trip and get a decent site when you felt it was "time" to stop for the day. Lately, at least out here in the East, you have to plan your trips and make all your reservations a year in advance or you're out of luck. Ever increasing crowds of owners competing for the fixed number of sites.

There are many 2017 Redwoods for sale right now but they are the late 2016 built Redwoods, they are not the newer models even though they are called 2017.

Did they do away with the outside TV on the new model?

Last I heard the outside TV, rear storage and the shelving and netting were gone from the front compartment on the new models
