Isn't there a section of this forum designed to alert us of any Redwood recalls?

I'll be at Lazy days May 5 for some warranty work and will be sure to ask about this "recall." I would think that if there is a recall they are legally bound to send notices to customers...least on a car they do. Will be interesting to find out.

I haven't heard of any recall. Look at Rdocksmith's join date. Unless he can prove it, bet he's just another instigator trying to discredit Redwood.

I just had one fixed on my 2012SK and it looks like my crack was in the same place. The factory has a fix for this which is repairing the cracked area and installing a vertical expansion joint up to the that corner of the slide. I know 2 others which have had the same thing done to their Redwoods.

That may be the 'fix', but what is the root cause ?
Poor engineering, failure of a part, ????

We've had our 2012 Redwood since May of 2011. We were told directly by Redwood that there was a recall and the H Clip needed to be replaced. My husband took care of all this so don't know all the tech terms. I'm attaching the paperwork from the work performed.

I suggest you investigate a bit more before you start instigating and accusing someone of something you have no clue about. I'm only on here because I have a huge list of issues we've had the past 3 years and thought I could help others.

Good Day!!

When I'm wrong, I'm wrong! Apologize. Thanks for sharing. It's just that we've had a number of distracters on this forum.

What is the fix when the crack starts to come off the corner at a 45* angle?

John,
Mine hasn't cracked either and it's older than yours - I think its is a weak point and whether it cracks or not is kind of like Russian roulette. In my opinion, the correct fix is the cut at the factory for flex.

The front frame is not the same 12" I-beam as the rest, yet it takes the hardest hits and that sandwich wall has no give. That is the narrowest part of the sandwiched wall. It would only stand to reason that any upward deflection of the frame has potential to crack it.

Given the H channel shows up on multiple brands from the factory, I certainly don't think there is anything wrong with your Redwood, I just think Redwood should have always been putting in the expansion cut from the get go.

Well, started for home today and after stopping about two hours up the road, mine has grown about 2". The dealer will see it Friday.

Any ideas on this one?

I believe you get body work. All of the cracks I have seen are angled.

It's at the dealer now. The crack hasn't grown anymore. However our short list grew somewhat long coming home. Came from Florida to Ohio with a warm hub. I lost that tire in Ky. Broke the fender and rolled the lower aluminum a little. I don't think it's the bearing. Through the wheel the drum would be 170. the others 120. The last check after changing the tire, 60 miles up the road, was only 130. Out around the bearing area never got that way. Much similar to the others.

What is maybe a much bigger problum, I noticed an excessive amount of up and down at the pin box. It's beating the caulking from the lower edge extrusions and has started to deform the one on the curb side. This is right where it rolls from horizontal to vertical behind the pin box. We also have a few more minor issues.

So I'm know looking at G tires and wheels. I scaled it last summer, loaded with full tank of fresh water and all the things I expect to normally carry. It was 12,200 on the axles and 15,500 total. So not over at all. You wont believe these numbers. I was 20# under the GVWR on the truck and 100# under the GCWR. I couldn't believe being that close and not going over.

While we had somewhat more in the trailer this time, the water was only 1/3 full. I don't think the weight changed much.
