screen door-storm door

Has anybody found a good source for taking a regular screen door ( like on the 38RL) and putting plexiglass on it so the door can stay open and not loose all the temp.??
I made one for the trailer I am in now but the plexiglass did not cut the best and I am not sure I want that particular one on the new trailer... I see that Forest River offers a standard removable storm window on the Cedar Creek models...

There are groves for plexiglass in the doors. If you want a good cut go to a glass shop and have it cut for you. I think this is the best option.

We have done the Plexiglass mod on all our trailers since 1991. The hardest is the top section that is curved, but with a little care it can be done.

I needed an immediate fix, because I also didn't want to mess with plexiglass or lexan. I bought the storm window plastic sheets that you apply with double sided tape and then shrink it with a hair dryer. We did 3 sections, top, bottom and center. The latch cover slides back and forth without any conflict

My brother and I did it 2 years ago, and he just commented last week that he can't believe it is still on there. Can't see it, great vision through it, I forget it was even there.

I've decided that temporary fix = problem solved and I'm not going to pursue it any further. Love running the AC with the door open, and even the heat pumps in the early spring.

I went to a local plastics company that mfgs items from lexan. I took the dimensions for two pieces, they then cut it for me in smoke color. On the top curve, I just did my own 45deg cut. They are mounted on the outside with plastic mirror hangers from Lowes.

Took my screen door to a local canvas shop who cut the windows (top piece and bottom piece) from flexible vinyl (20 mil I think) used in the boating industry (resists scratches). He sewed heavy duty Velcro around the perimeters with matching self stick velcro on the edges of the doors. Works great in hot weather (aircon) or cold). Easy to remove when you need ventilation thru the door and rolls up for easy storage behind a lounge chair. Been doing this on last two trailers.

Now that's even a better idea! Patent that! These doors are all the same.

Someone should make up a couple dozen sets and sell them at the rally! As you say, the doors are (most likely) all the same. I told another friend with SOB and he had an automotive upholstery shop (they make convertible tops) make a similar vinyl storm window for his screen door. Did I mention that the exterior door closes with the vinyl windows in place? No need to remove them.

that's awesome. That's a step up from my heat shrink type I leave on there permanent, because you can reuse yours if you remove them. I'm going to talk to my boat cover guy in Denver and get some made.

Better patent fast!

Too late for patents. A gal in an RV park in So CAL was making them in the park with her industrial sewing machine. She had a roll stock of marine vinyl and heavy duty Velcro. She measured your door and delivered the window(s) two days later for 35 bucks. Bet your boat cover guy can't match that. I think she lost her shirt because the material cost had to exceed the sell price. I got my first windows about 5 years ago.

I had to add two cross bars in the middle of the door for attaching the velcro. The 1/8x 28-1/2x 1" aluminum flat bar is pop riveted at each end to the screen door frame. I'll try to attach a pic.

Don't know how your door is configured but they didn't include the small piece to cover our sliding part in the middle. They did overnight it to us. Great customer service!
