To those who attended the Texas Regional Rally. Mindy and I were signed up to attend and were looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying the many conversations. If you had been following the news, you are probably aware of the intense flooding occurring right now throughout the entire state of Louisiana. We live in Bossier City and our home is located in the Golden Meadows subdivision which was featured in most of the reports. Our home did not have any water damage, but until yesterday afternoon, we were still under a mandatory evacuation and we felt the need to stay nearby and monitor the situation. Many homes in our neighborhood did have water damage. We have not seen anything like this in the 35 years we have lived here. We hope circumstances will allow us to attend the National Rally this fall. We hope you had a great time and we hope to meet you all some day.

Glad your home is ok, but can certainly appreciate your anxiety and concern. Lots of prayers coming your way for you and your neighbors.

I-10 is still closed @ Tx/ La border due to Sabine River flooding:

I found this report on Louisiana's 511 system: I-10 in both directions: Road closed.

Not in our subdivision, but throughout the Parish roads were washed out and many bridges closed until Dotd can inspect. We were very luck in my neighborhood.

Oh that's good news! Sometimes its worse to have the house standing but no electric, sewer or water and no immediate plans to fix it with the next year or so.

Great that your home is okay. Greater it is that you have your RW to live in. How many of us have utilized our RVs for a disaster shelter. Being a SoCal resident back in 1994's major earthquake, I immediately moved my family into our TT we had at the time on the side of house and stayed there for 3 days while we got our house back in order, utilities restored and livable. For me, it's comforting to have this avenue when needed.

You are absolutely right. It was very difficult at the time to even find a hotel vacancy because 3500 homes were evacuated before they decided to evacuate our neighborhood which was another 1000 homes.

UPDATE: Yes, unfortunately.... we had only one to register for the Arizona Rally. Here is another bit of sad news.... today we have officially cancelled the Salem, OR Rally, as well.

Through dialog with Crossroads/Redwood the last month, it has been mutually decided that Minnesota will not happen either. We were having difficulty finding a campground that would handle big rigs and willing to gives us a hold on sites during their busiest season.

The last two Rallies of the year .... Ashland, VA and Sieverville, TN will stay open until 30 days before each Rally is scheduled to start. If we don't have at least 10 registered....then we'll be forced to cancel. Right now we have 1 registered for VA and 2 for TN.

So.... we will see you all at the Redwood Rally in August.

**** update ****

I was contacted today by Lady E . . . She stated that Crossroads just pulled the plug on all Regional Rallies .. .

The Redwood National Rally is the only one with good turn out and is still on..

They all were cancelled due to poor turnout... I was the only one signed up for the Ashland VA Rally , and I believe there were 2 for the TN Rally . .

Too bad. Our Regional Rally in Canton, TX was very enjoyable, and educational (several of us took the RV Maintenance Course). We also met some very nice folks! However, I can't blame RW. People asked for Regions Rallies and they were receptive to it.

Here it is......the official cancellation of the remaining Crossroads/Redwood Regional Rallies: Canada, Virginia and Tennessee.

I am so sorry everyone. We tried and there just wasn't enough interest.

Possibly we can discuss it at the Rally in August and get a big push for next year.
Of course, this decision does NOT affect the National Redwood Rally in any way.
