Several years ago I was talking with a guy who was part of a larger group of campers. I believe he said that they had 10 or 12 people in their group that all went in together and they bought small (2 or 3 acres) of land in low tax states. They had a place in SD, TN and TX ( I believe more) at that time. He said that one of the partners was in the septic business so it was easy for them to put a system in each campground. They basically built their own little campground association that they all traveled independently to and maintained communications as to who was where. Each campground had 10 or 12 spaces and a "work camper" would camp for free in exchange for looking after each place.

Over the years, I've always kept this idea in back of my mind and was wondering if anybody else every stumbled on something like this?

I have heard of "co-op" ownership. Same thing?

I'm not sure...but I've always been intrigued with the idea. I'm not ready right now to make that jump but I could be soon. I guess the key to make something like this work would be finding the right participants and then drawing up a business deal and finding the right properties. I'd want to find properties in the Rockies, planes and the sun shine area. That way depending on the time of the year, you'd have a place to enjoy.

I hope the "sun shine" area includes the Texas Gulph coast. Maybe royalties from our Eagle Ford property would pay for our Rocky Mountain getaway.
