We've always gotten our tags and then the DMV gets the title from the lender. Evidently FL is the only state (at least the only one I've come across) that won't issue your tags until they've received...

You were lucky enough to own your TV outright and have your title. Unfortunately, if the TV is financed, the lender has the title and that's when the problem arises
