Having owned 7-8 rvs in the past 45 years it's normal for the sensors to not work 98% of the time.
My last 2 5th wheels,...

Empty both then fill one 1/2 full then open the...

Empty both then fill one 1/2 full then open the valves to see which is which.

If you're question is about the tank level sensors it really doesn't matter as they are fairly useless anyway.
We've had 7-8 rvs none of which were those sensors worth the power to light the pretty...
