I close mine when traveling. Don't want rain to possibly blow into vent when going down the road. Maybe be ok left open just don't want to take a chance.

Agree need to come up with a good solution to opening outside vent flap. I purchased a awning hook and use it. Have to be careful not to scratch side of unit when using it. If some one has a better...
