If this be the case I wonder if you took the filter out after each use an dried it out and stored it in a plastic air tight container until your next trip would work?

If it wasn't installed there should be one in...

If it wasn't installed there should be one in your Redwood bag or in one of the drawers along with a plastic specialty wrench to install it.
