There is a big difference between a Surge Suppressor and a good EMS, so I don't know exactly what you have. A Surge Suppressor/Guard will only protect from surges, while a good EMS will protect you...

Yes, I would be worried. Do you have a good EMS?? Your note "Hi VAC" makes me think that the inverter is seeing a Hi AC Voltage, the question is it on the Input or Output side.
