Shane, that's a good price for electric. I think that it's a plastic or lexan like Retrax.

I got a roll-n-lock for Christmas - so far pretty awesome but haven't towed with it yet. Non-electric.

[QUOTE=danrn;43599]I got this tri fold cover mainly to cover my hitch. The only disadvantage I see with this, or any tri fold, is I cannot see my hitch.

The method I use with my trifold cover is to insert a 2 1/2" PVC pipe (about 24" long) into the hitch. This is normally leaning towards the back. I can see this pipe. I backup until the pipe hits the top of the tri-glide hitch. Stop and remove the pipe. Since you are lined up, you can just connect the trailer.

I have the Peragon cover with matching paint for my truck, its aluminum and very durable, folds and unfolds easily and you can take it off and out it on in about 20 seconds or less. One I unhitch my 5th wheel the cover folds right over the hitch( I do have to remove the top plate of the 5th wheelhitch), two pins and I store it in the RV takes about 10 seconds. Here is the website to check the product out.

I used a length of white electrical tape on the centerline of the underside of the folding section just before the hitch in the bed of my truck. I line up the piston on my TriGlide with the tape and back up...

But my tape is better than yours

fluorescent orange duct tape -
a bit on the top of the triglide shock and then on the rolled up cover...

Has anyone looked at the Extang EnCore? Looks like it is very similar to the Solid Fold but it opens from either the front or back of the bed? I think it's thicker so wonder if it would cause problems with the rig hitting it on sharp angles?

Retractable Cover

We've just started on making the F 350 a bit prettier. She just received a Rhino-liner and a Roll-N-Lock cover. We installed the cover ourselves, and was well worth the $450 in savings vs. installed price. Now to put the hitch back in and head out on the road!

I am really enjoying that roll-in-lock! Between that and the line-x and the new hitch on a new truck, the back of this truck is going to stay pretty for years to come, unlike the pior trucks that had rusty hitch and faded bedliners.

I have a Truck Covers USA on the 2012 F350 dually. It's heavy and strong so I guess I like it. It also seems to need adjustment all the time - I don't like that. Right now it covers the Reese 16k on an adaptor to fit the in-bed pucks. A Curt Q24 should be here later in the week - I'll see then how everything fits. Fingers crossed. Have had the 36rl out twice since we got it. It's been a white knuckle drive each time with the 16k hitch. Looking forward to some piece of mind - I'll make the thing fit!
1st 2 trips went okay - except - screws in entry door are totally inadequate. Bedroom closet door latch is a joke. Will be replaced with a magnetic latch. Auto level isn't quite - just a bit nose-down. I did find the recalibrate post. I'll do that someday. Best part is my wife is very happy with it. Good riddance lemon of a Carriage Cameo!

Atom,
Can you take a picture of the bed with the cover opened up? Just wondering how much space you lose when it's open?

LWG - here it is. It consumes 10-1/2" additional space from the measuring from back lip of the front truck bed frame, and extends down 9-1/2" from the upper edge of the bed.

You do have to be careful of your load, or it can smash into the roll and tray and damage it. It has a nice aluminum cover over the tray that I finished in black. It gives it a clean look.

Does it interfere with your visibility of the hitch when hitching to the Redwood?

Lwg - you can't see the hitch from a normal seated position. I guess you probably could if you raised yourself up.
Having said that, after having the Roll n Lock for more than a year and half now, I don't find it to be a drawback at all. I've removed the rear seat center headrest as I thought it was in the way anyway. With the headrest removed you have the two mounting lugs that are right in the center of the rear seat and easily visible in the rear mirror. I back into the RW centering the pin between the lugs and stop when I can't see the pin anymore. That puts the pin about a foot or so from the hitch. I get out, set the height (or Tracy sets the height as I back in) and back up till the hitch latches. No problem.

Gotta say, I've had 4 different hard covers on different trucks and I would put a Roll n Lock on the next one without any reservations.

I have the B&W hitch and with the headrest removed I can easily see my hitch when backing up.

I'll have to have my wife block out the distance the cover takes in the bed for a more scientific approach. Will ultimately want something like this in the next few months.

I have seen a few roller toppers that had been scratched up from sand that would get into the rolling device. They may be better now, but that was the main reason I didn't get one. I presently have a tri fold and although I cannot see my hitch now I like my cover. When I hook up now I just put a 3 foot pipe in my hitch to line up with my pin.

LWG - I would have to rely on Vaughan's feedback. I haven't even had my hitch in the truck since I installed the Roll-n-Lock at Christmas, let alone hooked up the Redwood. If I recall even before the Roll-n-Lock, I do have to remove the center headrest, but I still can't see the hitch, only the pinbox.

One thing that needs to be mentioned is hitch height. I'm not familiar with the B&W hitch so therefor don't know how high it is. I can tell you that with the Roll n Lock installed you have a little more than 18" in height in the bed. The Reese that Brad and I have clears the cover. You do need to put a bungee cord on the handle to hold it in the down position. Also, my hitch is in the lowest setting so that my rig is level.

Hope this helps.
