I've got the "Flipbak" Retractable aluminum cover and i wouldn't buy another one. It just doesn't seem to be holding up very well.

My F-350 came with an optional 4 section folding rigid cover. It has arms that keep it folded upright against the back window for full use of the bed. I fold 3 sections which gets it just past the Reese hitch. I added a length of white electrical tape to the underside of the last folded section as a guide to line up the trailer pin with the receiver on my 5th wheel hitch. I can see this in my rear view mirror or over my shoulder without having to "sit up" to see whether I am lined up.

Dave, what are you seeing bad? You have the G2? I believe the retractable is also the G2 so I was wondering what failures or degrading your are seeing. I had heard the powder coated fold backs are a bit vulnerable to hail.

My folding cover looks like I went nuts with a ball peen hammer... finish is rubbing off where each of the folds touches as well.

The paint is pealing off and the spring inside the drum is broke. I'm going to be calling the company next week about the spring. The paint isn't covered because I have used a car wash

Dave, when you say the spring, do you have a rolling retractable type or does the folding type use a spring as well.

Mine is the rolling retractable aluminum cover. Right now it doesn't retract easily.

My truck is now almost 18 months old and lives outside (unfortunately, big garage went with last house).
The Roll n Lock has been on it since new from the dealer. No issues, no noticeable wear and works like a champ. Would buy another tomorrow for the next truck if there is one. A bit more costly than some others but in my opinion worth the $$
Just my .02

I've got the RETRAX Pro on my truck. Have no complaints...other than it wasn't cheap!

Thanks Vaughaun! Roll-n-lock was my original choice, but worried about the vinyl fading and the side rails covering my tie downs. Do you have the pop up tied downs in the bed rails? And if so can you access them with the Roll-n-lock?

Unfortunately I think your tiedowns would be covered. Just walked out and looked at the ruck and it looks like the frame for the Roll n Lock covers about a third of the tiedown plate.

With the "Flip Bak" like mine, the bed pockets are available.

Just installed the Extang Solid-Fold that I decided on today and it works and looks great. Now the test of time will begin. It took me longer to remove the old one then to install the new.

That's crazy. Like saying the paint in your truck isn't covered if you use a car wash...

TonnoPro Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover

I had an F1 Bakfilp on my 1/2 ton and I liked it. I just ordered a cover for my dually. It is not as good as my first one (made of vinyl), but it has many high ratings and I believe it will meet my needs. Also, it costs a 1/3 of what my first cover cost. My main reason for the cover is to cover my hitch.
There are a lot of choices out there for covers, just find one that will do the job you want it to do.
Another reason I picked this cover is because it comes off very easily. I am concerned that I may not be able to see my hitch after it is opened, and if it is in the way it only takes a few minutes to take it off.

I have the BAK Flip F1 cover for my long box. I have storage under it while I tow my rv and have had no issues. It holds up to 400 lbs if you need to stand on it and is water proof. Fantastic cover if you have not ordered yours yet. Worth the look.

I got this tri fold cover mainly to cover my hitch. I had a BAK Flip tri fold on my other truck, but didn't want to spend that much on another cover. I like this cover. Easy to put on and easy to take off if I need to. It is lockable, so I keep some of my gear in back. The only disadvantage I see with this, or any tri fold, is I cannot see my hitch. But that is OK, I just get out of my truck and check to ensure I am lined up, so no big deal.
