roll-n-lock cargo manager

Anybody have the Roll-N-Lock Cargo Manager? I thought it was the best idea since auto leveling, but as I watch the demos, I'm not sure it will clear the hitch?? That would make it far less useful.

Brad - is that the bedcover ? If so, that's what I have on mine and it clears the 25k Reese just fine. You do need to use a bungee cord to hold the handle down when unhitched but that's all.

I should've looked at it before posting ...

I have a Roll n Lock cover. When I have the coach hooked up next week for a trip I'll take another look at it but my thinking is that it would be pretty close. My other concern would be on a really hard turn could the umbilical cord get caught or pinched on the cargo rack .....

I normally carry 2 large tubs with a bunch of stuff in them in front of the hitch with the cover closed to the first catch. That is far enough back to cover the tubs for both weather protection and casual security. Also carry 2 more tubs in the back of the bed by the tailgate that are secured by an x-crossed bungee system. All of this stuff clears fine.

Ya, it might be that you have to pop the cargo manager off, to get it over the hitch.

For now use a rod thingy that screws tight to the side if the bed, because we also carry a bunch in the front of the hitch (how did I ever do it with a short bed! We quickly filled the extra space this longbed offers).

I kept the factory bed extenders from my 2008 Ford and just found out I can flip it forward and the hitch clears. Should be enough room for two 64 qt coolers.

The cargo cover I've been looking at is the "Fold-a-cover". A friend of mine has one and has no problems with his fifth-wheel hitch.

I have the Rol Bak cover which is made by the same company as the one that Andy has. I's my second one but I'm having problems with the spring and the paint is falling off.

I have the Roll-N-Lock (but not the Cargo Manager) installed on my 2012 F350 Dually and it clears both my Hitch (Comfort Ride Hitch) and 50 gal Transfer Flow. It is a tight/close fit though - the installers had to cut off the "handle" on the Transfer Flow cap - not a big deal as it's still easy to wrap my hand around it. If my hitch leans to the side it does catch and I have to level it before the RnL can close. Again, not a big deal. I'm happy with the configuration and like the security of locking and protecting equipment when not towing.

Eric,

I was actually hoping to use it while towing with the hitch in, to hold back coolers, fire pits, etc. from sliding back to hit or interfere with the hitch. If it passed over the top of the hitch, I could choose putting stuff in front of or behind the hitch. My hitch is set to the 15" above the bed height.

I'm just not sure the cargo manager would slide past the hitch even if tilted 90 degrees (feature for long loads). Just from the pics, I don't think it could ever clear the top of the hitch, so it may just stay in front of, or in back of, the hitch until you remove the hitch.

Do you also know if the Cargo Manager would conflict with the Ford factory bed extenders? Just from the pics, it looks like it won't.

Eric,

I noticed your website only goes to 2013 Ford Super Duty, and the 2015s are out now!

I'm sure the fit is the same, but a lot of the search sites exclude your product as it doesn't show to be available for my 2014.

There's a thin line sometimes between providing information and sales. The forum is not intended for commercial use. If anybody has questions for Eric, they should contact him away from the forum.
