Kodiak Type truck

Guys, I am looking at buying a Kodiak truck, I was wondering why more 5'er owners do not use this size of truck, any information would be great.

For me....the biggest reason for NOT having / using this "next level" of truck is its every day drivability...There is no disputing its enhanced abilities as a HD tow rig..but using it for anything else is a pain. Does not park easy...in and out can be a chore....rides rough....expensive to purchase....cost of ownership will be high,..
But as I said....excellent in the tow department.

Two main reasons:
They haven't been made since 2009, so if you can even find one it's 11 years old
They use the older Duramax with what 100 to 150 or more less horsepower

Now if you're talking the newer version of 4500 to 6500
they only come in a Chassis Cab version which would require a Hauler Bed
which run for 10 to 25K depending on how fancy you want, plus they are still
using the older version Durmax.

GM just came out with the latest ones, saw one just yesterday being used by a contractor, good looking truck & didn't seem quite as large as the previous ones.
As for ride it won't be any worse the F450-550s or the Ram 4500-5500 nor any more expensive to maintain than any other diesel.

Guys, thanks for the replies, I have to agree with most of you, and decided not to purchase this old of a truck. Looking into a Freightliner Sport Chassis. Really like the look and ride of these. little more (a lot more) pricey, but its only money right? Thanks again.

They are available with factory air ride rear suspension.

For me as a daily driver its a deal breaker riding on 17.5 -`22.5 tires . That type of tire has to be loaded heavy to have any traction on wet pavement. The 17' tires that come on the 3500hd will not last as many miles but you don't have to drive like your on ice when its raining. I know most of you will understand this but I have have driven 58,000 miles with 245/70/19.5 tires on my current SRW 3500. All set , I pick up my new 3500hd DRW truck on Wednesday. If I was full time in the RV and only drove 10,000 miles a year unloaded I would most likely get a class 6 truck.
