Antifreeze in Air Bags?

Just installed Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 airbags with a Wireless One controller on my 3500. The Wireless One manual says "to avoid cold weather freeze up: add 4 0z. (1/2 cup) of "Gunk" brand air brake anti freeze directly in the air bag”. I haven’t seen this mentioned before on any forums. Do you all commonly do this?

Wow, that the same setup I installed on our F350, and I don't recall reading that. I assume it is to prevent condensate from freezing make your bags non-operational. We never really used ours in the winter so I don't know if they ever froze or not.

It's good they're saying that. I did have some freezing problems with my truck and when I called them I was told to add the antifreeze. But it's hard to do after the bags are installed.

I installed the Air Lift 5000 bags on our truck also. Purchased the remote controller wireless air compressor, but haven't installed it yet. It's still in the box after 2 years. I purchased the air brake line anti-freeze like they suggested, but haven't put any in the system. I keep our bags at 10-15 psi loaded or unloaded so I am not constantly releasing air or introducing moist air that could freeze. I think more problems would occur if you were constantly going up and down with the pressure and lots of air exchanges in the bags. If it's not broken, I am not going to fix it. I don't see the need to put it in even in our harsh northern Indiana winters.

I never experienced any issues with freezing either, but I had mine installed by someone else...

And Chris - GET THAT wireless controller installed - you will wonder how you got along without it once you realize how slick it is
