I agree with Blenhardt. I bought my SWR F350 in Utah when my 2004 6.0 gave up the ghost. I bought the package offered by Ford and it was the 25K hitch. I think you could pull a B-52 with it. The latch hook is a lot thicker so with some pin boxes it could pose a slight problem hooking up or unhooking which is what happened with me on my Open Range. It had a sweet spot and when you learned where it was you would be fine. Sometimes it was rather diffucult to hook and unhook because the latch just fit into the king pin. With the 36RL and the trailride hitch I have now I have never had the problem and I have been at some weird angles.By the way, my Reese 25K went bad three months after I got it and Reese overnighted a hitch to the nearest Ford dealer where they installed it. That's what I call service.

I am also interested in the issues, as we also have the Reese Elite 25K & Ford prep.

If you look at the hitch there is a silver bar underneath the release bar. That bent and a spring came off and would not let the hitch latch release. It was locked as if the pin was still in the bar. The way I got the trailer unhooked was my wife pulled on the bar and held it while I drove out from under the trailer. One thing it proved was the latch won't come open with the pin in. I was really pleased with Reese for overnighting a new hitch. I told them I would be parked for the Winter but they insisted on sending the hitch right away.

As for the 5th wheel hitches, there are several out there.Â* I use a companion made by B/W which allows me to pull it out of the truck easily.Â* There are several on this forum that use the Reese hitch.Â* If you have a short bed you won't need a slider with a Redwood

Good luck and welcome to the forum
Dave, I have the B&W as well, do you put Lithium or any grease on the inside of the jaws or the pin itself. I do put grease under the top piece of the hitch by pulling the two pins.
