Well it has been great...not!

Well, we are getting rid of our 2019 Redwood. This has been the worst financial decision we ever made. Our Redwood should have never left the assembly line. Driving back from Maine our hydraulic legs decided to release down the interstate. If the hydraulic slides had not been locked for travel, they too may have decided to open. Insurance is sending us a check (we paid cash at delivery) and will be purchasing a better quality from DRV. After 89 issues, and the leg failure, it is just not worth owning another Redwood.

Guess the warnings I heard to never by a RV manufactured a week before Christmas are true.

Good luck everybody on your Redwoods.

Sorry you had so much trouble!
Just FYI, DRV is another Thor product as well.... So hope you have better luck!

Good luck with your next adventure.
It's hard to understand how two of the same models can be so different, with one with next to no issue and another just a complete disaster.
Your story is how we got into a Fifthwheel from a TT. We had a Gulfstream Conquest 30' TT, thought that Gulfstream would be a good MFR, well there wasn't any thing right about that unit. Gave up and traded for a Montana as our first 5er.

Sorry that you had all the issues. One thing I might mention, if you're looking at DRV $$$ range, take a very serious look at Luxe. Have been through both plants and there is a build difference. Make sure you've got enough truck though, a Luxe is heavy, even their less expensive line, and requires a 350 Dually at least. Most of the Luxe line is in the range of 450-550 or Sportchassis.

I also thought that we shouldn't have as many issues with our Redwood. But then someone reminded me, that the same guys that were building Coleman pop-ups a week ago are now building our Redwood or DRV. Best intentions of manufacturing are only as good as the workers. With low unemployment rate you get what you get.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I guess we have been lucky with ours. Several issues over the years (hinges breaking, shades falling off, the usual as I've read) but nothing major. Good luck with your next purchase.

Like The Travelin Texan I have owned a DRV and now a RW. I would also go to a Luxe or another independent outfit. DRV went from a 2+5 to to a 1 yr warranty. I made a mistake and thought I wanted to go to DRV factory for repairs but they said they only have time for warranty work. I bought a RW and have only spent one night in it and already sorry. When I get it out of the shop and do my first vacation I will decide.

Sorry if I've given the impression of ever owning a DRV, I have not nor ever will!
Due to them being too much $$$$, too heavy! After talking with several that have/do own them they are not any more trouble free than any other brand of RV on the market, just cost a lot more.

I have a good friend who "upgraded" to a DRV thinking that he'd solved all of his problems. It was no better than any of the other units that he had owned only more expensive. He encountered multiple issues one being non-operating slides while on the road. He has since traded it for a class a diesel pusher. Time will tell how that is.

I agree with you on the quality of a DRV, that was what I was trying to explain. I have owned one and was impressed with the way they are built but not with the quality of workmanship. The other major problem of the industry is the local repair shops that also do not seem to care. Sorry I misread the remarks about you owning a DRV. I do believe that a heavy built unit would probably mean a better built unit for full timing, LUXE being a independent that is left but $$$ chug

Only 89 issues? That was my first trip into the shop. The first 2 summers we owned it it was in the shop until from April to October. Been to Redwood once and Keystone/Crossroads once. I was impressed by the Keystone shop and personnel. We spent more than we should have on the Redwood based on what we had heard, and are stuck with it as buying another is not in the cards.

I so understand if I could give the 3901 2018 that we purchased in April back - I would. We have had nothing but problems, from the front door not installed correctly taking the paint off the frame when having to slam it shut, the shower door not installed correctly - had to be completely replaced, front room fan all the screw were stripped and so could not correct the blades from being loose - had to be replaced - to water under the bathroom sink that the dealer cannot identify where it is coming from. To the latest is the TV stopped connecting to the channels when using the antenna - told to take it out and bring into the dealer - it is a "Best Buy Recycled" TV that was installed in the unit, and they won't replace with a new good TV. Dealing with the manufacture and dealer has proved to be so frustrating - had to keep on them, take pictures to get the theater chairs replaced with the same value of ones when we purchased the unit (we were not told until the walk through the ones in the unit had stopped working). We purchased the unit 3 hours from our home so are working with their dealership in our area - who doesn't sell the Redwoods. We have had it 6 months and have not been able to use it completely yet. Lost the entire month of August while the dealer had it. We had a Forest River unit before and had no issues with it - I will never buy another unit from this manufacturer, again.

Thanks for the comment. We are just getting into RV’ing. We don’t have the coin for a Riverstone. So, we’re at a loss as to what to get. We aren’t retired(yet) and not made of money. We’d like to buy a used 5th wheel in the 38’ range though. But, don’t want to purchase a poorly made RV either. We have a budget of no more than $37,000.00

Buy used. Someone has already been through the grief. I'd never buy new again.

Well, that budget will only get you a used Fifth Wheel of most any manufacturer..

Keep your eyes wide open ! Keep looking online , something will cross in front of you

I agree. I would never buy a new RV. It’s hard to figure out a manufacturer that has high standards. We had a Landmark Pinehurst for the past 3 years. But we want to upgrade to a newer unit.
