There is a HUGE number of models available. Wide angle, storage capacity, GPS capable, etc., etc. Might not be a bad idea for you to register on a trucker's forum and do a search there. After all, these guys are professionals. I'd recommend the Trucker's Report.

Depending on what you already have, have you looked at the Goodsam/Rand McNally RV Tablet 80? An Android Tablet/GPS/Dash Cam all in one.

We have a KDLinks X1. No problems. Cheap and just works. I would recommend it. Not good for recording scenic drives, but a good eye witness in case of the worst.

Dash Cam
We bought a model called Top Dawg 1080P dash cam with 2-7 LCD.
Specs are Ultra clear link loop recording.
Automatically recording while starting engine.
Support Av out function.
Wide viewing angle high definition camera.

Ours works great, has a second camera that can be mounted to rear of vehicle, though I plan to mount ours on passenger side of truck, hope this helps.

a bit for fun, you can actually take out the memory card and import the movies to your computer but the main thing for us is that we very often drive over speed bumps. Think one is called Fiat500 and it helps the insurance company to identify those. We have never had an accident but if we do we can choose to use our video to help figure out what happened.

Yes, it records in sequences of 5 min until,the card is full and then loops.

We bought a cheap one from eBay. Just for the piece of mind, as we usually have more than one idiot per trip that doesn't know car length and distances to use when passing and getting in front of other vehicles. Ours is a full 1080 video with sound. Says it has internal memory, but we installed a 32 GB Micro SD card. It stores in 3:05 increments. Shows date and time in lower left corner of videos when playing back (very small). About 500 to 530 mb file sized chunks. Numbered and in a typical windows file system. I was impressed with the video quality and sound from such an inexpensive unit. Even has a certain G force detection built in that if in an accident at a certain limit, that portion of stored video can't be erased so the accident will be preserved. No large screen or inputs for other cameras, but records vital video proof if it were to be needed later. We only part time and it works for us. If truck is towing the Redwood, dash cam is on. If and when we go to full time, we obviously would go better. If I remember correctly, dash cam was $26 and 32 GB micro SD card was $15. Micro SD card came with an adapter to use with regular sized SD card slots so you can view on computers, etc. Inexpensive for some proof in case of an unlikely accident.

Used for proof after an accident. Bought my daughter a Jeep Rubicon and had a camera installed before she could touch it.
