Realistic Budget?

We're planning our first long-term trip out west and trying to come up with a realistic budget. We know, as newbies, we're going to spend more than average seeing sights and running around too much. For you full-timers and long-timers, does this budget look reasonable?
January - April Trip
$3,600.00 Camp Fees
$1,457.00 Fuel
$2,000.00 Admission
$3,200.00 Hlth.Ins.
$400.00 Wireless
440.00 Dish
$200.00 Grooming
$2,400.00 Food
$800.00 Restaurant
$400.00 Hobbies

$ 15,397.00 Total
5200 mile trip.
January 1st through April 30th.

I think you are close with your numbers. You may be low on camping fees depending on where you stay. On a recent trip from SoCal to Alabama, I averaged $40/nite. If you boon-dock along the way or stay with weekly park rates, your $30 may be fine. You will find camp fees higher in California. I would also up your fuel a bit as prices are rising some, but may go down over next winter/spring. Also may want to add for utilities; propane and maybe a truck service.

Thanks. I've revised my budget somewhat after getting some great advice from people who are actually "walking the walk." I've removed some of the expenses that were going to be there anyway like health insurance, Dish, etc. I also increased the fuel and lodging figures although we do plan to do some short boondocking stays and will take advantage of weekly rates occasionally. I'm feeling much more confident now that I have some real world confirmation of our plans. With money (like a lot of things) it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. If it turns out we've over-budgeted then we'll add a month or two at the end. All of our plans are etched in Jello.
Thanx,
Jim

If you're a PassPort America member you can save 50% camping fees. Not always the closest or greatest, but we've overnited at some for $10 - 15. Some have restrictions as to number of days, others no restrictions.
