Need Houston RV Park Suggestions

Can anyone suggest an RV Park within 100 miles of Houston?
Prefer 55+ with activities, but not sure if that exists in south Texas.

Knowing absolutely nothing aboutyou, or the number of years you've been camping, should I assume that you've already perused the info on campgroundreviews.com

Houston isn't really "south Texas", so if you go to the Brownsville area, you will find plenty of sites that cater to the 55+ crowd as far as activities go; but that is a bit of a stretch in miles from Houston.

Our favorite spot, is either Brackenridge Park and Campground OR Lake Texana Park, which is right across the street, near Edna, TX which puts it at 104 miles from the center of Houston.

These two parks are beautiful. They are set on the shores of Lake Texana and have trees and also are a wildlife sanctuary. We were lucky enough to see small herds of deer almost every morning and dusk frolicking near us on several occasions. It was a delight to watch. Plenty of hiking trails, bike trails, some other sporting activities including fishing. There is no public pool or hot tub. You have the lake to swim in, however, there are signs up - do not feed the alligators! (so, we stayed out of the water) There are activities most weekends - you can find those during your stay. There is a HUGE Recreational Complex just adjacent to both parks entrances that has an event going on almost every week-end.

We are spoiled by this park and use this as a thermometer to rate other parks in size of lots, FHU's WiFi and such (doesn't have cable but the wildlife shows going on outside are pretty darn entertaining!).

Brackenridge Recreation Complex

Our picture in our signature was taken at one of the stays there. We stayed at one of the pull-thru's many times and have stayed at other sites at both campgrounds. We love it there and go there often.

We dobn't usually go to KOA's (Keep On Adding charges)
but the one in Conroe is a very nice park and sites by the lake are very nice
we actually bring enough cords and hoses so we can pull in forward and have the lake out in front of the coaches windshield ....

Montgomery, Texas Campground | Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA

Wow, the flooding got to the campground - the sites we stayed at last time are under water !

but the sites on the northwest side are high enough so you might call ahead

Not sure what you are looking to do in or around Houston but most of the AllStar rv parks are gated rv parks in side the Beltway. Check on the rates as they are much higher than your normal park. All of the AllStar parks we have stayed at has a pool and hot tube room, workout room, on site laundry rooms. Very clean and well maintained.

I have stayed a number of times at the Lake Conroe / Montgomery KOA because our local tech lived in the area.
Like said above, not you typical KOA, nice park, well run.

Now our Tech has moved south of Houston, so I have found another park to try (closer to where he lives) when I head to Texas after my stay in IN and MO this August.

Ah, yes the Allstar parks - we did stay at two of them...

nice park, only complaint is they are filled with oil patch workers - nothing against them - but their diesel blasting out of the park @ 4 AM was not conducive to our 'vacation'
