Looking for a nice Campground in the NY Finger Lakes Region

Heading up that way next weekend and we're looking for suggestions for a long weekend.
Seneca Lake or that area

I'll be heading that way myself after picking up our unit ... A few days of personal inspection and a few days of R&R. I'll let you know what I find. Beautiful area, if you've not been there before.

Guys, we live in Syracuse and occasionally head to the Finger Lakes region to camp. If you don't mind not having full hook ups, Sampson State Park is nice. It was the Naval training base during WWII and then Basic Training base for the AirForce during the Korean War. We are going there for the 4th of July weekend. We really like the Finger Lakes region (wine tasting, etc) so are looking forward to it. Have fun.

We live on Long Island unfortunately when we camp we usually leave NY. Lol but when we are in NY we are either in ther Catskills or Lake George. If that helps I could make recommendations. We will be in Lake George 7/10-7/20 lake George rv park is expensive but what a place.

You're right Foxfire, Lake George RV park is impressive. We have also stayed at Ledview in Lake George.

We've stayed at Pine Creek Campground in Newfield. It's a little closer to Ithaca and Cayuga Lake but it provides great access to both areas. IMHO, Central NY has a culture that is more supportive of state parks in that you won't find the "fancier" campgrounds that are present in other regions. We've also stayed in the area's state parks. I've found it's much more difficult to get a reservation and you need to be sure that you have a site that will fit your rig. I've found that my definition of 41' is sometimes different than park staff.

As a follow-up, we stay at Sned Acres. Lovely campground. We booked a return trip for October. The Finger Lakes are beautiful. Worth the trip.

Vaughan,
We just booked the weekend at Sned Acres. We have a Wedding to attend close by and I remembered that you stayed there.... We couldn't get a 50 Amp site, only 30 but not expecting any issues. So, the place is nice?

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim

Yes, we really liked it. Family run, very nice people, gorgeous scenery. We were in a 50a site but they only have 5 of them (they just put them in last year)
I doubt if 30a will be an issue as even this time of year I think you'll be able to do 1 AC and be comfortable. A lot of seasonal people around the perimeter.

If you're into Wine, the area is like California Wine country was twenty years ago. Lots of small, very good Winerys sprinkled all around the Lakes. Most offer tastings for $3-5.00 and have an onsite Cafe' or restaurant.

Enjoy your stay ! We're going back up in October for 4-5 days.
