Long Day

Sitting in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Paradise Park RV Resort, which is exceptionally nice and within 1000' of old town and the beach. Really impressed so far. Older park and a little tight I places but very knowledgeable staff to lead you in and guide you. Once set up sites are large and level.

Drove straight thru from Baltimore today. 535 miles, rush hour traffic on outer beltway around Boston and the normal traffic in northern New Jersey and north of New York. I fried, just finished a glass of wine and time to hit the bed.

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend. We will be in Nova Scotia with Campers (Bud and Lois) . They want to show us the Maritimes. Should be fun !!

When I read your I title, my first thought was another disaster. Happy to hear it wasn't. I traveled around Nova Scotia in a jeep. From what I remember, some the roads were pretty tight and real cliff hangers. Look forward to hearing from you on how traveling with the Redwood in eastern Canada goes. I leave for Wisconsin on Saturday for a 5 week trip ending at the Rally. Safe Travels.

Hi Joe, no we did the route you suggested. Took 287 and up to 84. Those roads sucked, I can't imagine what 95 is like and don't care to find out. Had a few things that moved around in the coach that NEVER move. Even with the IS it was a rough ride.

Stopping only for fuel and a quick 30-40 minute lunch break, it was 12 hours. Figure we lost at least an hour to hour and half to traffic slowdowns in different places. Boston outer loop traffic sucked and Tracy was looking at Waze and said at one point " well, at least we're not trying to get around the inner beltway".

I have to get out the Atlas, I'm seriously thinking of cutting west into northern PA and picking up 80 and then going down 81 to go home. Either that or NE Extension of turnpike. 81 brings me right into Baltimore after you get on 83

Vaughan, have fun up there. Last year we did the Canadian Provinces with Fantasy RV Tours, including the short Ferry up to Newfoundland and the long (19 hour) Ferry back. We went pretty much all the way around the coast of Newfoundland pulling our 39MB with no problems, not so our friends with their New Jayco. They tore it up so bad they traded for a '15 RW FL when they got back.

Vaughan . . if you plan on going home the same way in MA and CT.,.. STAY on 84.. take 84 west into PA then you can either hop on the Northeast Extension ( PA Pike South ) or hop on 81 south to 83..

Taking the PA Pike south may be a bit faster.. take it to the bottom and exit onto 95 South , just south of Philly Airport.. BUT if it were me , I may elect for 84-81-83 ...

Wow! 535 miles in only one day, that's 3-4 days of traveling for us. I honestly believe the highways are getting worse everywhere, we're in Oregon & havent been across one bridge/overpass that didn't jar your teeth loose. Last 2 stops I've had to remount blinds laying on the floor.

As part of my education, would you mind sharing why your friends did so poorly with the Jayco? Did they follow your same route and the Jayco just wasn't up to par with Redwood?

They followed right behind us on the whole trip. They had a front landing jack rip away from the frame, went thru all four tires, destroyed there washer from the bouncing, couldn't keep clothes on the clothes bar in the closet. Just things like that.

Hi Vaughn,
Glad you made it safely, have a happy 4th of July, happy trails to you from here in Rapid City SD.
Heading to Winnipeg Manitoba, to see my sister for a few days, then we will work ourselves down through Duluth and the Dells heading to the Rally.
Safe travels, enjoy the mission.
