Just checked Gas Buddy and Sams Club is $3.52 gal. in McAllen Tx. Since I'm headed in that direction to do some shopping I'd better fill. Will need about 70 gal.

Always makes me wonder when the least processed fuel costs so much. This is the main reason the items trucked in cost so much. Yet, the diesel gets so many more miles a gallon for a vehicle with some serious weight ratings than a gas engine.??? Here in CT the taxes on fuel certinally haven,t put it into highway repair just alot of expensive new equipment.

68.6 gallons at $3.52 for $242.00. Have to think the other way to make it seem better. The next cheapest price around was$3.59 so that saved me about $4.30. 5% rewards rebate on my credit card means I save another $12.10, so I saved a total of $16.40. Maybe I should fill up again and save some more money. Remember before they had the ultra low sulphur diesel and it was cheaper than gas. Oh for the good old days.

And the mileage we got was better before the ultra low sulphur diesel. So now we're burning more to go the same distance, so have they really accomplished anything more that patting themselves on the back and making them feel good about themselves??

I hear on Wheels with Ed Wallace yesterday that the spot price of ethanol is like $4.00+ per gallon and Bloomberg is reporting it too --> http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-0...july-2006.html

so, the thing that that is ruining our mpg and taking up farm land that could be used for food, is now costing more per gallon than what is was supposed to 'fix' ?

Nice not only does it screw up all our small gas engines now its higher than gas, when will they admit its a mistake and do away with this stuff?

Everyone on here has got to understand price & demand philosophy. Gasoline usage has been drastically reduced by Toyota Prius and the like. Even the general automobile public has reduced their trips and usage (statisticts show it).

I've yet to see a semi tractor reducing its gallons per mile to get our merchandise to our front door. These commercial tractors have to keep moving and purchasing fuel. Obviously, fuel companies ain't stupid. They go where the money is. Diesel is less cost to refine and has more usage. This equals larger profits.

Rver's using diesel and furnaces using #2 fuel, or kerosene are just innocent individuals in the petroleum profit mix.

Once our US Government can decide how to tax our vehicles by the mile............we might see the electric semi tractors hauling our stuff

The cost of production of ultra low sulphur diesel has increased the price above gasoline. In cold climates, the addition of #1 increases costs. Taking lead out of gasoline has increased costs. The formulation changes between seasons required in some places change costs. The different taxes between states affects the difference in costs between states. Costs of fuel transportation affects. However the petroleum companies affect it also. It seems like if there is a shortage, whatever the reason is, hey have to raise prices. Whether it is good or not, fracturing and other methods of getting oil has increased the availability of crude and helped keep prices from rising more that they have.

Its a world market - we contribute very little influence to the pricing. These oil companies will sell you any kind of bull you want to hear to get the legislation changed to allow them to drill in your backyard - and once you give in, that stuff goes out to the highest bidder and the largest consumer. In as much as you try to conserve, it just means to the oil will go to another country that needs it and is more willing to spend the money to get it.

Until we close the borders, and covet our resources, this willingness to open up new reserves to help us gain independence is just a line of nonsense from some jet flying, cowboy hat wearing tycoon that can taste the profit so bad he is slobbering on himself.

Been seeing the commercials to push us to change legislation to export natural gas for the good of the country? The slobber is so deep I need boots.
