Cherry Creek State Park - Co

My first visit to a Colorado State Park. Just finishing 2 days, amazing facilities for a state park. Have reservations for 2 days in another state park in Grand Junction.

Already planning an August return for several weeks.

Funny, I'm heading to Cherry Creek in two weeks. If your staying at the State Park in Fruita you won't be disappointed. We're right across the street (couldn't stay there 4 weeks straight) and walk our dogs over there twice a day.

If you'll be here in the next two weeks let me know and we'll get together.

The one in the canyon isn't as nice, too much Interstate noise and it might be closed as the Colorado River is nearing flood stages over here right now.

We go to Fruita every year for Peaches and to visit my Dad in Grand Junction - its in my sig pic. Never tried the one by the river.

Heading to Chatfield today if I can get in, if not I'll try Cherry Creek. Mine is done at the shop so its time to fire it up for the summer.

At Island Acres, not as nice as Cherry Creek but still very nice for a state park. River is high, looks like 8' before it gets over the banks. Many people in tents camping at the rivers edge. When does peach season start?

There's a flood advisory out for the CO/UT border, I think we're currently at 12', Flood Stage is 15' and they expect the river to reach 13.5' by next Tuesday.

LWG, will try to run you down tomorrow. As long as the creek don't rise quickly, we will be out of here Sunday am.

Peach season is September, October, depending on the weather through the year. My Dad keeps me posted and then we make a couple of runs.

Then fender looks good, and all the work seems OK - not a lot of time to look at it, as that place was a zoo with only one driveway in and out.

Chatfield full, guess not camping this weekend, just dewinterize and get it ready.

Both Chatfield and Cherry Creek are booked every Friday and Saturday for months. Guessing all of Denver goes camping there! For our trip to Cherry Creek I'm limited to Sunday through Friday. Works good enough for me I guess...
