Anyhow your still lurking and I am sure none of us will mind if you post some pictures of the new ride. We saw some but lets see some details.

But that might be considered "annoying"....

We bought a 2013 Itasca Meridan 42E with a 400 hp Cummins 8.9 ISL, 19K miles. 8.0K Variable speed diesel generator, tag, 1-1/2 baths. It has been a lot of fun so far. The refrigerator water solenoid had froze over the winter, and we have the #3 AC that won't start. Other than that, it seems to be in good shape.

Ahhhh!!!! Now that's more like it and I knew you could do it.

Very nice. The white leather would scare me since I would have it dirty just looking at it.
I had my mind set on a new DP but somehow on a rainy day in VA. Char got me into the 5ers and when I looked at figures for both since we wanted new it just made more sense for us to get out of our MH and into the 5er so my dream of the DP has slipped away for a little bit.

Thanks all,

Uramillionaire, those pillows are actually Itasca/Winnebago. In true form for Winnebago, each one has a Winnebago factory part number tag on the back. Winnebago is really good for that - every door, every cabinet frame, even the valances. That along with a full set of drawings and manuals, it makes it nice to do repairs.

The flowers were actually because of Mothers Day. We went to the lake with 4 of our Mothers!

Very nice coach. We've been looking at the Itasca Meridian and the Winnebego Journey. We like their floor plan in the living room area. Enjoy the ride.

Brad...I drove one of those things years ago and it had the steering response of a whale on dry land. What's your impression of its handling characteristics so far? I suppose if you haven't made your first long trip in adverse conditions, it might be difficult to tell.

Thanks again all!

Tom, it is different. We use to call the DP fire trucks "hush pumpers" because you hit the gas and it moves but you can't hear anything. So far:
  • I truly feel like the RTD bus drivers that take us to the football games in Denver. wide turns and you head right for the car in front of you and turn just before you hit it so you can clear the rear.
  • On a smooth road, it is heaven. I don't feel like I'm being catapulted down the road from a trailer behind me.
  • In the wind, it can be very tiring. You have to wrestle it to stay in lane. They do make some with a steering assist to help with that, but I don't have it.
  • Fuel - about 8.3 average so far in New Mexico mountains pulling the Jeep. Drops to 7 if I insist on 75 mph down the interstate.
  • I let Blue Beacon wash it, $35.
  • I can maneuver it much better than I could the 5er. Backing is awesome, and you have 3 cameras to help you out.
  • Embarrassed myself already - by myself and made a wrong turn off I-25 into a military base entrance. Tried a U-turn across 6 lanes and not enough room. Had to stop, disconnect the Jeep, reposition everything and hook back up while 2 lanes of people trying to exit had some words for me I'm sure.
Bob,
Yes I'm having a blast with all the gadgets. There are so many manuals I downloaded them to my Tablet. There are 3 2" manuals from Winnebago, and 1 from Freightliner, not to mention the bazzilion small ones. Dory tried to get in the door the other day in front of the house and I had it blocked with the cabinets and ceiling I pulled down to run new cables to mount the Trav'ler antenna on the roof. I thought the King Dome was a tracking antenna but it wasn't so I took it off in favor of my Trav'ler and Hopper/Joey system.

Hey Brad

Nice looking unit, was surprised to see you're putting Travel'r on it. Do you still have the old Hopper? We upgraded to the Hopper 3 and now have to make some mods to the dish (Travel'r) for the new Hopper to work. New hopper now has 16 tuners so we can both record the few shows we want at the same time.

Thanks Jim. The King Dome didn't work (wouldn't lock). Even though it is under warranty, when I found out it didn't have the motion tracking I figured it wasn't worth the hassle. I had the Trav'ler off the Redwood, and I do still have the Hopper and Joeys active.

Curious, what changes did you have to make for the Hopper 3? I need to upgrade our house.

Brad

Check out the Freightliner app. It helps with any questions you may have and also access to services when on the road. We found it helpful on our last DP MH.

Ah Thanks! I just found it and downloaded it. Fortunately we have a reputable Freightliner shop right here in Denver, as well as Cummins. Of course neither of these are where we bought ours, even though they sell them.
