Winegard Sensar Antenna Maintenance

For those who do not have a Satellite system and still use their Winegard Sensar crank up Antennas, do you know to lube it twice a year or when cranking up or down becomes difficult? Winegard specifically suggests twice per year with a good silicone spray. Older manuals used to say don't use WD-40 as it would destroy the life of the gears, I would think that still applies. A few times per year when I am on the roof looking for seal voids and such, I bring a crescent type wrench and a can of silicone spray. Remove large black hex nut on top, spray a few blasts down the tube and also on the exposed gears. Replace nut. Go inside and crank up and down a few times to help distribute the silicone. Something to do to help make things easier to use and hopefully last longer without leaks down the shaft.

This .pdf file is just larger than the size allowed to be posted so I am posting a link instead.

Happy camping!!

Thanks for the info Chris. Going to lube mine next time I'm on the roof.
