Unusual Goodyear G6114 Tire Wear, whats going on?

Stopped at a rest area today and did my usual walk around, noticed unusual tire wear on two of our Goodyear G6114 tires.
Any ideas what is going on with our tires?

Rob,

That looks strange.... How old are your G114's?

Joe,

They are about 3 years old, not sure why one of the tires with the odd wear is the right front and the other is the left rear tire.
Of course we have the MorRyde IS.
I have a appointment for a inspection and alignment check the week of the Rally.

Resurrect an old thread. Hopefully Rob will update what they found.
We had an issue last week with a G114 wearing strange.
Goodyear could not tell us why it is wearing this way. It was on the right rear, air pressure is the same we have been running for over 2 years. Just seems weird that it did this. Goodyear did replace the tire.

MoRyde did find some alignment issues with our MoRyde IS System, they thought it was causing the tire wear issue we were seeing.
They corrected the alignment and we have not seen any more wear issues with our Goodyear Tires.

Thanks Rob!

We are getting the IS in 2.5 weeks.

I ran our G114s for 40K before we had one explode on the way to last years Rally, but no strange tire wear.

For what it is worth, mine look similar. Not quite as defined but in the same neighborhood.

Discount and Goodyear do not have an answer on what the cause is yet.
Discount has replaced the second one. I just hope we do not have any issues with the other 2.

Tire wear

Hey folks, any reason that you use the Goodyear G114's instead of the G614's? I've had the 614 tire on my last 5th wheel (2010 Holiday Rambler Presidential-approximately 16k lbs) and have had no wear problems. I was told by a respected race car trailer builder that the 614 was the best trailer tire you could get in a 16" rim configuration. Maybe the 114's are a different size rim?

The G614 is a great tire, it is a 16" rated at a max of 3750 lbs per tire at 110 psi.

The G114 is a 17.5" tire rated at a max of 4850 lbs per tire at 125 psi.

Both are great tires just some of us were pushing the G614 to its rating limit so we moved up to the G114 for more safety margin,

If looking for new rv tires check out the Sailun brand. They have both the 16" & 17.5" the with great reviews on both at about 1/2 the price of Goodyear's.
Had the 17.5" with new wheels shipped to me for my RW for less than replacing the GY614s.
