I personaly would want to go with lighter axles because i can remove weight but the broken parts and personals can get very expensive.

Still looking into 8K axles. have not heard any neg. about them. I know DVR, Horizon, Carrage and Forest River has them as standard or as a option.

I thought read a post stating that the factory does not recommend the 8k axles?

If you want the heavier rated axles may suggest the trail air air ride suspension in place of the stiff springs? The axles are not the problem its the springs they can cause your rig to bounce on rough roads which can cause a lot of damage. Just a thought.

When I sent an email to the factory rep he said he thought it was an "over kill" and that it would make the coach ride rougher. I'm still thinking I might do it because with 3000 lb CCC after the generator, I'd like to have more. I've already upgraded my tires and brakes and hitch. Why be limited and have the coach be close to the limit of it's axles. It's pretty easy for a week-ender to have 2500lbs in their coaches with gear, food, water and tools. Hell my tools alone weigh 300lbs and then when you have the weight of my beer and Jack Danials

Very good systems but very very expensive I achieved the same results using components from different kits on the market for alot less. I have air ride on all 4 corners of my truck and I have NO wires or mounted gauges, it's all remote control and adjustable as you drive. It's a sweet set up.

One of my customers is a distributor of Kilderman and he said I could get the system at his cost for my F350. By the way, what MPG do you get with your ford pulling your montana? I'm getting ready to "chip" my truck out is help while towing.

I have the Kilderman air ride with the Chariot package
inside and it makes a sweet ride on a F550 let a little air out and it smooth’s
the ride outwhen not towing.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />

If you want a nice ride for your rig, skip the disk brake option and take the rig down to MorRyde and have their IS System with Disc Brakes installed. They completely remove the axles and weld on their system. Had it done to our current Montana in Sept and it tows better and things don't move inside. The install takes approx 2 days, but you can sleep in the rig at night right in their shop. Complete change over runs approx $5500 to $6000. Gives you a heavier suspension with the ability to adjust each wheel for proper tire wear.

Send a message via Yahoo to RollsRoyce

Andy Wesdorf at headquarters sales advises the when you upgrad to G614RST tires that a wheel change and valve stems upgrade are both used to accomodate 110 Psi BUT YOU HAVE TO ORDER AND PAY DEARLY FOR 8000 LB AXLES WHICH ARE NOT NECESSARY

Here's some more food for thought: If you go with 8000 Lb axles, you would have to go to "H" rated tires to take full advantage of the axles. The "G" rated G614s fall right in the middle of capacity between the 7K and 8K axles. They give you more safely margin with 7K axles, but fall short on the 8K axles. So we'll give the 7K a try for a year or so, if we don't like them, we'll go back to MorRyde for they IS System.
BTW, I personally would not pull a Redwood off a Dealer's lot with "E" rated tires installed. Lighter units than RWs have been having problems with "E" rated tiresso I think RW should be ashamed of themselves for even listing them as standard.

You are absolutely right and maybe that is why the factory rep does not recommend the #8000 axle setup that would beat the %&?t out of the trailer on rough roads.

Axle issue

I'm concerned about the rougher ride with 8 K axles. But my 7000 lb axles have failed me. Twice springs broke so today am going for 8000 lb axles and springs. However. Now we find old rims don't work because the suds arebigger lug pattern is the same 16 by 6.5 but studs are 5/8. So need to chage rims as well. Anybody know where to get rims with this stud size and bolt pattern?

Wow 5/8" - you might be stuck with Alcoa wheels.

My Lippert 8K axles still have the 9/16" studs.

I'm trying to determine the stud size on my 7k axles to change to G-tires. An on line company called Trailer Tires and Wheels has all sizes for about any type trailer. However I need to know the stud size. I would think it's 9/16. Goodyear Gs and wheels, mounted and balanced are currently $510 each with free shipping. They also have 17.5 wheels but show only a China tire for it.

I may have made a mistake, but time will tell. I just blew my 2nd Goodyear G614 tire on this trip from down South. We were close to Johnson City Tx. when we lost the first one. When it lost it's tread, it made a few dents and left some black marks on the right skirt, but no major damage. I found a discount tire store and replaced it with another G614. The second one went just short of the Ok. Ks. border. This time it tore up the left skirt totally and put a few dents underneath. Can't tell if it did any other damage or not, but everything seemes to work. Couldn't find a replacement close, and I don't like running without a spare, expecially after the recent history. The road service that came out also dealt with tires etc. One of the brands he handled was Samson which made a G rated tire in the size I needed. They are a Chinese made tire with an actual weight rating higher than the G614. He said he had good luck with them, and the price was good compared to what the previous Goodyear tire I had just purchased. I told him to put it on, and after some thinking told him to replace the other 2 Goodyears also. Arfter losing 2 of the 4 that were purchased at the same time, didn't know what the future would hold for the other 2. Taking the 2 blown back to see if I can get anything out of Goodyear for the tires and trailer repair and hope the Samsons hold up. I lost a G614 on our Carriage with the same problem, losing the tread.
