Slide and Level-up problem

This just started 10 days ago when we left for Florida. It was the coldest that I've ever closed the slides or raised the jacks. 30deg. F. The slides stopped about 5 times and the jacks timed out. I can here the click of the automatic circuit breaker trip and reset.

I was hoping it would improve when it warmed up, but it has only slightly. Still doing it at 80 deg. We are now in Florida. I think I remember someone here with the same problem some time ago. I'm somewhat electrically challenged and not sure what I'm looking for, although I suspect it's the breaker/relay going bad.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mark

I'm not sure if anyone here is aware that I was deaf. I had a cochlear implant in June. The click I could hear operating the slides I haven't heard in 25 years or more.

Mark, we had a similar problem with our '12 RL and upon checking, found that RW had installed the wrong auto-reset breakers. Anybody that had an earlier Montana knows of that problem too, I know we did and that was why I checked the ones on our RW when the slides started stopping.

Thanks, I thought I remembered something like that. Now I need to find them. This is the first it has happened in 2 1/2 years.

Normally once they start, they tend to just get worse.

Mark...congratulations on a successful cochlear implant. We take so many things for granted in life. We all are truly blessed to be living in a time with great technology and healthcare providers. Additionally, hope you solve your leveling/slide issue with new breakers! Bob

I can hear it somewhere behind the slide switches and above the main breaker box. I had the switch panel off but only found wires. I will look in there again. I thought it might be part of the switch but I don't feel it in the switch when it happens.

Aren't they on the bulkhead above the batteries?

On our '12 they we on the back bulkhead of the Battery/Hydraulic Pump area. now on this '16 they're mounted on the rightside in the same compartment. If you follow the large guage Red wire from the Hydraulic Pump it should take you right to those breakers.

Thanks, it has been a huge difference. It was turned on in August. I hear things I haven't heard in 30 years. I'm about 90% certain to do the other side in the spring.

Looks like it. It appears to be a single component. A large red and a couple of black wires going to the pump, along with a few small wires.

Not sure how to find one except through Tiara. It just needs to work 4 more times before it fails.

Mark, I actually got those at the autoparts store (NAPA), but that was a few years ago.

I'll remember that. If it holds out 4 more times, I can change it over the winter when we come back to Florida.

What you found at Dyers is a Trombetta three way solenoid that controls the hydraulic slides and levelling jacks. It is not a resetting breaker. The breakers are in the electrical lines. However, I had the exact problem and it WAS caused by a faulty Trombetta. Once I changed the Trombetta the problem ceased.

Besides a faulty resetting breaker it can be caused by low voltage. This can result from loose or dirty electrical connections. Check and tighten all the connections in this circuit starting at the both battery terminals. If you have low voltage the breakers will trip. You can monitor the voltage on the Level Up panel wile activating the jacks.

Oh wow you're right - I didn't even look at his price. The resetable breakers are only a few bucks.

something like this, but not a 50A

I think when he said Red I got fooled, as my resettable breakers have a red plastic cap over them to protect the lugs from contact with metal.

Thanks, I went back and followed the red cable back from the pump. There appears to be a breaker there on the back wall. Actually 4 or 5 on various circuits . Because they are on the back side, I didn't realize what they were. Next week when we get up to Crystal River I will shut it down and see about replacing the breaker first. It should be relatively cheap.

Is this what you found at Napa?

Yes Mark. I actually got some not to long ago I believe. I'm going to put one on my winch for the Jeep so I don't start frying the battery, but I don't remember the amperage I got.
