Replaced Toilet

Our bathroom has gotten to where it smells pretty bad all the time not matter how much we clean it.
Now I started seeing water coming out from under the Toilet base at by the floor.
I pulled the Toilet off and found the plastic pedestal had broken where the china bowl attaches and it had been leaking inside the pedestal.
There was quite a bit of stinky water inside the base that ran out when I lifted the toilet off the floor.
Bought a Dometic Model 320 Toilet and installed it in place of the factory installed Thetford Toilet, cleaned up all the mess that had formed under the toilet by the flange, the Dometic 320 is much nicer Toilet and no leaks and no smells.

I hope so too, it did not appear to have absorbed any water, everything looked solid, but I am not sure.

been thinking of making that change myself. Had the 320 in our last RV and like it much better than one in our RW. Was it a easy swap no special Mods Needed for the change?

The swap was very easy. Took longer to clean up the mess and sanitize the flange and floor from the internal water leak in the Thetford Pedestal than it took to actually remove the old Toilet and install the new Toilet.

Just remember to dump and flush the black tank real good before doing this, it can be a crappy / smelly job !!!!

The Dometic 320 water connection is in the rear and I did not need to modify the water line to reconnect it. (I understand the Dometic 310 requires the water line be modified to connect it)

Just remember the Dometic 310 and 320 Toilets are longer than the Thetford Toilet and require more room behind them to install.

Due to the way the toilet is mounted in our FL, there is plenty of room behind the toilet and the Dometic 320 fits fine.

My toilet valve for the incoming water is sticking and I noticed a bowl of fresh water this morning all over my floor. Is there a way to change the valve on out toilets or do I have to change the whole toilet?

There is a water valve kit available for the Thetford Toilet, you remove the foot flush pedal to get access to the water valve.
The water valve kit is a pretty easy replacement, using a little plumbers grease helps everything go back together easily.
I have done the water valve kit replacement on my Redwood once and on my previous SOB 5th Wheel once.

Amazon has them --> https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...ater+valve+kit
I had the same thing two weeks ago on the Thetford in our half bath...
and started to just replace the water valve, but the plastic 'bottom seat' had cracked too, so $ for the valve kit and $ for the seat and $ for the installation...
I decided to just spend a bit more and upgraded to the china toilet...

MUCH heavier than the plastic one that came out... but nicer - and I paid someone to do replace it

Many have just changed from the Thetford to a Dometic 310 or 320 and put their toilet problems behind them, no pun intended. Sooner or later the foot pedal of the Thetford will pop off on you and won't stay, and a new pedal will set you back approx 50 bucks. Don't ask how I know that.

You got a bargain, my foot pedal was $69.95 + shipping. Had I known then what I know now for another $60 I could've replaced to the better toilet, which I did when the valve stuck.

I have the Thetford assembly waiting for me at the campground. Got almost 3 years out of that toilet. Thank goodness I put water sensors in the bathroom and basement, saved me a lot of water damage when it over filled. Although when the sensor went off I couldn't figure out where it was coming from initially. I had the Dometic in my Montana, also kept a 6 pack of the flanges on hand because it would quit sealing the water bowl. Replaced at least two a season. Neither one is any good anymore. All Chinese parts. I hope I get another season or two out of it.
