REDWOOD and SLOW RISE SHADES Brackets

How many Redwood owners have had issues with the Slow Rise Shad Brackets breaking .

I have had numerous issues with them and have replaced brackets on most of my windows, except the bedroom.

I suspect allot of the breakage is due to rough roads and the shock associated with that.

My picture window shade in the rear only had 2 brackets holding that large shade up and it broke. It now has 3 brackets and working good.

Appreciate any feedback you all can provide.

Thanks,

Jeff

Yes, some of ours have broken, especially on the larger windows. I replaced them and for added strength zip tied them to the bracket.

Thanks,

Strange, our big back window has been fine, the one that has broken twice in the shade in the dinette slide. this last time I did the zip tie method.
The only saving grace is the Company, Irving Shade, is quick to supply replacement brackets.

I haven't ever had an issue with any of the shade brackets, but on our trip back home from AZ last spring, the large valence over the shade in the big window was laying on the sofa. The Redwood installers had hung it with 3 #8 3/4 inch long screws. It's a wonder it stayed up that long. Needless to say it's never coming down again.

I just used the broken brackets with the criss crossed zip ties & they've held just fine. Also zip tied several that weren't broken yet just for insurance & moved the brackets on some they had mounted very crooked.

Our Large Rear Window Shade fell first, then our Dining Room (our second largest window) Shade fell about a year later.
Added brackets to both shades and Zip Ties for extra support, so far no more problems.

We also lost our rear shade... I replaced the brackets while we were away..

Once I got home, i read about the zip ties... I got a big bag of black zip ties, took EVERY shade down and added 2 black zip ties in the X pattern to each bracket..

We picked ours up and drove 120 miles home and when we got there the rear blind was on the couch with broken brackets. I thought what the f did I just buy.
Needless to say Irvine shade was great and sent new upgraded brackets for free. Same as all added 2 more to the rear as there was only 2

Got an Email from Irving Shade. The customer service person stated that they have had to instruct REDWOOD Factory on how to install these brackets and how many to use for each shade. They supposedly reinforced the brackets and it should fix the problem. I hope so!

Been there, the blind in our kitchen fell, and the valence in our bedroom fell off. Clearly, there's an issue and hopefully addressed.

Allot of the issues are directly related to REDWOODS poor Quality Control. For instance, you don't put up a 4 foot window shade on the big picture window and expect only 2 brackets to hold it in place. I mean that is a heavy shade! I now have 3 brackets on the big window shade and so far its staying in place.

We are having more problems with brackets failing on the smaller shades, Just had one break with redwood parked not moving. The zip tie quick fix works great, will be reinforcing all of them that way.

My rear LARGE shade had 3 brackets...

When I was chatting with the folks at Irvine Shade, they told me the brackets being sent were upgraded..

If you look at the original ones, the tab that breaks is plastic ( at least on mine) .. the replacements were all metal.

The upgrades may be metal, but I think it White Metal/Pot Metal, just a little step above plastic.

Fixed the Shade Brackets

After nearly 4 hours, I repaired and replaced 6 brackets on my shades and then reinforced them with Nylon Ties.

Several of the brackets were screwed in crooked, so the shade would not connect completely with the bracket. I had to remove and re-drill the brackets and straighten them out. It is amazing how POOR the QUALITY CONTROL IS at REDWOOD.

The large Picture window was the toughest. (see photos) That shade is so long and very heavy and REDWOOD only had 2 brackets installed. Once again I removed the brackets and widened them to be able to take up the load evenly across the window I then used Nylon Ties to secure the brackets to the shade frame.

I did this to all the other windows in the RV and should have eliminated any more shades falling (fingers crossed)

It is such a shame that for the amount of money we lay out on these RV's, WE end up having to fix them ourselves. But, it's the way things are now days.

Those are some pretty colored zip ties you used there

How do you remove the valence that covers the shade. Don't see an obvious way.
