That was my plan, until I found out how well the heat pump and electric water heater works. Now, I guess I will see how far I can go with the tanks I have.

The heating system does not seem to work as described here. Though, I have kept a comfortable 72-74 in the RV. During the day, the heat pump is fine. Late at night the heat pump will kick on and never go off. It still is pumping out heat in sub 30 degree temperature. I then manually switch it to gas for the evening. It has not switched on, on its own, yet.

As long as it blows enough heat out that the temp does not get below 5 degrees from your set point it will not switch over to the furnace. I had that happen last winter also seems like the heat pump ran forever but temp in trailer was only 3 degrees lower than set point and heat pump could not get it to set point.

That makes sense and completely explains how it is operating. Thanks. The only reason I turned on the gas heat before turning in, was to keep the basement heated. Too bad the basement can't call for heat on its own.

That doesn't sound right.

I can force mine to go to gas heat by moving the selector over to gas and the heat pump will shut down. I've done exactly what you are wanting to do, heat the basement.

The heat pump only comes on in electric on mine. The gas may also come on with the heat pump if the temp delta is beyond 5 or so degrees.

What part? I think we are saying the same thing. At night I turn it to gas, and the heat pump turns off.

What I really find cool is that I have been on site for almost two weeks and have had not need to by LP yet and I only have the 30lb tanks. When I first bought the RW, I thought the fireplace was silly, not any more.
