Explore USA for Annual Inspection?

I know there's been a lot of discussions here lately around service provided from Explore USA. We're getting into the window where I need to start thinking about our annual inspection (purchased 7/31/2013) so I need to identify a good place to do it. Turns out I might be in Dallas at the end of July for a business meeting and was just considering having Explore USA perform this inspection.

Thoughts on whether they could do this in a timely matter (we fulltime)?

I purchased my unit from ExploreUSA in Dallas (Mesquite). We found about four items that needed replacement during the PDI. By small items I mean a door latch, the lock for the filing cabinet door, awning LED strip. Parts had to be ordered and they said they would call when the parts arrived which they did. I made an appointment and dropped it off.

Two weeks later they called and said it was ready for pickup.

That's what I feared and reason for the question. I need to call Redwood and ask them the best way to proceed. Truth be told I would prefer a mobile tech come by and inspect based on a list of items to look for and just ask for reimbursement.

I actually think I could perform this inspection, but suspect that wouldn't help me down the road in the warranty department...

Good luck... I wouldn't waist my time with another exploderUSA as they can't do a normal inspection right to save there life. Each one I have taken my previous carriage to for yearly inspections have it a clean bill of health but found out that what work we wanted done to it during the same time was not but we were charged for it. If I had a choice crest view did us right I just need to know if it will accept crossroads to do mine because I won't step foot in another exploderUSA

lwg, I was approved last year by Redwood to have a mobile RV service inspect our rig. There is an inspection sheet in the manual. I had the mobile RV service guy follow the inspection sheet, fill it out, sign it and then faxed it to Redwood. I plan on doing the same this year. I believe that the mobile RV guy was more thorough and even touched up some caulk spots while on the roof. Contact Redwood, can't lose anything by trying, I sure am again this year.

If I can do that I will most likely do that as well. The Mobil rv guy who is working on mine now would be my choice. If redwood would accept it

Had mine, my neighbors RW and two other folks rigs inspected at the same time, saved travel money.

Brilliant! That was ultimately my backup plan. I'll ring them up tomorrow and inquire about this option.

Wanted to update this thread. Just talked to Redwood and they now require an authorized Crossroad dealer perform the annual inspection on our Redwoods. They don't have to be a Redwood dealer, just a dealer who handles any of the Crossroads brands.

I think in the last year things have been changing over at Redwood and they are not quite as loosy goosy as they used to be about the rules. But at least this opens up the list of dealers quite a bit.

That is not a good thing. My rig is at least 6 hours from the closest dealer that handles Crossroads. My inspection is right at the peak of camping season as well. Getting an appointment and hoping for a one day turn around is probably a pipe dream. May have to forgo the inspection and continue to do things myself.

I'm a little worried about this as well. My inspection is due within 30 days of July 31. We also Fulltime so we have quite a few obstacles to work around.

Going to start calling and looking for appointments now. Hoping this can be done in a day with any warranty work being performed shortly thereafter.

Did they provide a listing of the authorized Crossroads providers by any chance? It is only July, but I imagine starting to look around now would help a little bit. What would be the consequences of not inspecting it?

<LOL> I was being facetious. But honestly, have you looked at the inspection sheet in your manual. Does that sheet really check anything? That is my monthly checklist plus about 10 more things.

The current list of Crossroad dealers is on the Crossroads RV website:

http://www.crossroadsrv.com/dealer-locator

Second part of this is the dealer needs to agree to do an annual inspection on a Redwood even if they don't carry it. According to Redwood "Why wouldn't they as its a chargeable service?" And they are correct about this, but we know how finicky RV dealers can be.

Question Annual Inspection

Is the annual inspection something that Redwood requires for warranty purposes, or is it something that the state in which the RW is registered in requires?

Redwood requires it. Not sure if it just voids the 5 year structural if you miss it or if it voids everything. Guessing it's due to them having the 2/5 warranty instead of most RV's which have just a 1/1 warranty (bumper to bumper/structural).

I was told by my dealer Tiara in Elkhart that the annuals were no longer required. So I did not get one before heading to this job assignment. I wish someone from RW would clear this up once and for all. I would hate to think that I have lost all my warranties over bad advice.
