We have the Fisher & Paykell dishwasher in our 2013 36FB. It has been used twice and worked flawlessly both times with the last time being just two weeks ago.

Today I went to winterize the rig and found the display showing an "E4" error code which is a faulty heating element. I called my dealer who recommended I call the manufacturer. I did and they recommended I call a local authorized repair shop. Did that and no service person was available so I have to call back in the morning.

At this moment I cannot operate it to get rv antifreeze into it which I am not pleased with, but, not too terribly worried about for now (low in the lower twenties tonight with highs in the forties during the day).

Has anyone experienced such an error with their dishwasher or any error for that matter? Did you need an authorized service person or did Redwood help?

Thanks.

Gary

We had a problem about a year ago, while we were at the first Redwood Rally, not with that error code, and Redwood made one call and the service tech from FP showed up and fixed the dishwasher, It has performed flawlessly since and we just love it.It is so nice not to have to do dishes!!

So far the only error I've received was due to the bottom sprayer coming out of place. That was due to the bumps of being transported. Quick repositioning and it worked like a charm!

BTW, we've probably used ours about 30 times so far with no issues. Probably use it every other day. I truly love having this. It really does a great job at cleaning the dirty dishes.

Ive only had error with the sprayer jumping out on transport and no water because it gets turned on by mistake after we are disconnected.

Will yours start if you change to quick wash and turn off dry?

Only issue we had was the actual dishwasher sliding forward and cracking the cabinet. Dealer did a great job of re-securing and repairing the cabinet.

Use it every day, collects dishes all day and goes on immediately after dinner.

We get E4 whenever we try to use the dishwasher after towing anywhere because the spay arm always pops out of the pump at the bottom of the unit. You will find it sitting in the bottom of the dishwasher, as it's designed to just sit there in the pump - really poor design for a mobile unit.

This took a while to figure out because E4 is a catch-all for many issues.

We solved our issue by adding replacing the spray arm as part of our arrival routine.

Interesting! The arm was off and I put it back. But, the error code is still there. Maybe I did not get it seated correctly. Is there any reset procedure?

Thanks.

I just fiddled with it & it started working. Maybe unplug or disconnect AC, then plug back in & try again?

E4 Error on Generator Power

Bad news, we have the same problem others have had with their dishwasher while on generator power. Under generator power, dishwasher beeps constantly, flashing an E4 error on the led. Yale, didn't you have this problem too at delivery? If so, were they able to fix it? I remember someone said they had an electrician test the output of the generator and it was low (Under 120v). When I do a search for this problem on the internet I find this:

With the generator running you should use a volt/ohm meter to check the voltage at the plug. It sounds like the dishwasher controller is seeing a low volt condition when it call for the heating unit to turn on. Just as a matter of info, what you are referring to as 110 volt is actually 120 volt. Residential current in the US was standardized at 120 years ago. We all picked up the 110 from our parents who had 110 at one time. When voltage drops below 105 many appliances particularly with motors don't do well. It sounds like your generator might not be putting out the correct voltage. You might try running the dishwasher with all other heavy loads off, like A/C and micro and any heating elements like the electric water heater or AquaHot. If it runs then your generator is dropping to much voltage when under load. Also check some other outlets when a heavy load is running.

<Theresa again>
So, add it to the punch list? Can this be fixed? I guess I should go find a meter and test my outlets under gen power... the dishwasher works great on shore power. BUMMER!!

We have the Marquis Gold 5500 propane. I am certain it's electrical, dishwasher clearly didn't like the generator at all. We were exercising the genny and that's how we discovered it. I am bummed.

Dang, that's hard to believe that a 5500 can't take the load of a dishwasher. Can I assume there were many other loads at the same time?

No, I don't think it was the load. I tried that. I think it's a matter of the quality of the voltage. I think it's just a little off... We have a surgeguard, but it needs to vary by a lot (up or down) for it to be tripped. I have heard of this problem before. I think the dishwasher is just extremely sensitive. A voltmeter will tell. I need to figure out if that is something I can get or not...

Depending upon how your surge protector was wired in the system it may have absolutely no affect on how your generator performs. Additionally, you should be checking both voltage output and the frequency of your generator. The speed (RPM) of your generator's engine will determine frequency, which should be 60Hz. A cheapo meter probably will not have the capability to measure frequency. An accepatable voltage range is +/- 10%.

So .... After putting 20+ hours on my gen to break it in it made no difference. Onan said the Genny was within spec and the dishwasher people said it should operate fine on the reading from my gen. B.Young had a service guy come to fix (when the guy shows up and gets on the phone because he had never seen one) he ended up changing the circuit board and one other part. It seemed to work .... Until we got home then it did the same thing. So after the gen starts I went to the main breaker panel and turned the main off then back on and there you go, no more code. Since, I have had this same problem hooking to shore power on set up. Not sure what is going on but once it works it works great! Still not completely sure what the deal is?

Wow - I haven't tried mine but now I'm really curious and will try it next week.

My generator bypasses the surge guard. Is it possible the generator electronics and surge guard are fighting each other?

I don't have a surge guard, I have a potable at the power source.
