DISH satellite and Weather Channel

Until last Thursday I have always been able to get the local weather on 214 by pressing select when the interactive prompt came up on the TV. I am no longer getting this prompt from DISH and I have been informed if I do not hook my TV up to the internet or a phone line this service is no longer available. I think DISH is trying to rip me off.

Has any one else with DISH experience this situation? Any suggestions, with my wife not working at home we are to cut cost not add expenses.
