I need help. I am replacing 5 "E" tires or 5 with "G" tires; what is your recommendation for a TIRE? I am thinking MICHELIN.
I had 1 blow out and 1 separate tread ( less than a 1000 miles), ANY THOUGHTS on the TIRE question?

We traded the factory Marathons for Goodyear G614's. Am very happy with the tires.

Michelin suffers more from the sun for tires on a trailer. I have them on a company delivery van and the side walls are all weather checked from the sun. They said that trucks or trailers that don't get driven much have problems with the sun baking the sidewalls. My tires only have 22000 miles on them and they're ruined.

I love Michelin tires on my trucks but I don't think they'll work on a trailer. Check the internet, I was told I'm not the only one with this problem.

Had G614's on last two trailers. Had problem with one on last trailer, but Goodyear took care of it. Well satisfied.

Actually Michelin doesn't make a G rated tire. They should.

The only US made LRG is the Goodyear G614. There are some overseas made LRGs, but what would be the point.

If you are going from E to G, you will have to derate and deflate your G614 tires if putting them on the Redwood T03 wheels rated for 3580 lbs.

If you happen to have the Redwood T09 wheel rated at 3,750 lbs, you can fully inflate and take advantage of the full capacity of the G614.

I don't see the reason to go to G rated tires if your wheels aren't up to the tire rating. If your going to the expense of upgrading your tires, upgrade your wheels if necessary.

I spoke with the wheel manufacturer (Tredit) and they told me that is okay to inflate the eight lug T03 standard wheel to 110 psi but it is necessary to change from rubber to steel valve stems. They pointed out that this will not increase the original wheel loading which is 3580 lbs, but does allow installing the G rated Good Year tires. They said that this question arises frequently. I have no plans to increase the tire loading but do want better tires at some point in time. This is an alternative I am considering.

In my opinion, a G614 derated to the 3,580 lb limit of the T03 wheel would be 1Billion times better than continuing to run the ST Marathon Maypops. Replace the stems, and you're set.

Or if you decide to go the tire/wheel route, skip the 614s and go directly to 17.5 wheels and G114 "H" rated tires.

Keep a lookout on other forums, eBay & Craigslist, as they are often posted. I bought a set with rims that were almost new from a chap in Seattle.

Sold the Marathons through Craigslist for $300 less than the G614's cost. Great deal considering the dealer wanted $3500 for new tires & rims.

We replaced our Sendel T03 wheels (factory standard on our 36FL coach) with Sendel T04 rated at 3750lbs. We did not purchase goodyear tires after a disasterous double blowout with the E rated Marathons (we were not too pleased with Goodyear at that point) but we purchased Sailun G rated 14 ply. They have performed well thus far until we had a suspension issue which is being fixed by Lippert, Redwood, Crossroads and as many other experts as we can get involved to get the job done. Due to the suspension issue 2 of our new tires will have to be replaced which we will do as soon as we are able to return to home. I would highly recommend that if you do not have upgraded wheels and tires (3750lbs and G rated, respectively) that you seriously consider replacing the Marathons and the 3580 lb wheels if you do any serious traveling with your coach. Since we picked ours up in March of 2012, we have put approximately 35K miles on our coach and have enjoyed numerous adventures and have met a ton of great people. After our double blowout, we needed to ensure our tires/wheels could take the travels and that is why we replaced our wheels and tires, last November.

Hello...we are thinking of upgrading from "E" rated tires to "G" rated....the service center that did our alignment is recommending Geo Star G574 14 ply HYW - All Steel. They say that they can be placed on my existing rims.....so 2 questions....Has anyone heard of these tires? and How can I confirm that our rim is the Redwood T09 wheel rated at 3,750 lbs mentioned above?

Thanks!

You need to look on the back of the wheels, probably cast into one of the spokes should be the wheel rating, PSI or Lbs or both.
There are several other Chinese brands competing with the Goodyear G614s. Geo Star is one and Sailun (not sure of the exact spelling) is another. Only a few using them so no real history on how they will hold up.
Another thought if you have to change wheels, would be to go even a step higher and go to the 17.5" wheels with "H" rated tires (4805 Lbs @ 125 PSI). Lets you make full use of the 8K suspension if you happen to have it.

Agree with mhs4771, if you need to change wheels go to 17.5" just gives you a margin of safety.
