I have a 2012 36RL. Was checking the water in my batteries and noticed I only have one battery. Pulled out my original Redwood brochure and noticed under the Power section it reads "Dual Battery Box" which I assumed meant there where two batteries. Dumb question. Anyone else notice there is only one battery or does anyone have two?

You need to go back to your dealer. The Redwoods come from the factory with one cheap transport battery that in there so the emergency braking system works in an emergency. Part of the dealership prep is filling the LP tanks and replacing that battery and if they're a good dealer they'd put one in each box. Obviously Redwood saw the need for 2 batteries otherwise there wouldn't be 2 battery boxes. There are just too many lights in these trailers to have only one battery.

Dave,
Thanks for your input. I will email Redwood first to see what type of arrangements they might have with my dealer on replacing battery upon delivery and go from there.
Whistler.

Whistler.
I don't think Redwood is going to offer much help. Your dealer needs to step up to the plate.

I left the PDI with my 24 series battery thinking I would go with 6volt golf cart batteries. As it turns out, the 6V didn't fit in the existing battery boxes and short of changing it all out to a marine type, I just popped for 2 new 27 series. I should have pushed the Dealer to begin with, just like I was advised to do by other Redwood owners (Royce).

Most RV's don't come with the necessary batteries. They just come with one used for transport. I know a guy that transports campers, and he has told me that he carries a battery with him because some of the manufacturers don't put a battery in them at all. Most decent dealers will put in the necessary batteries to meet the RV's needs, but there are some that don't.

What's the best and longest lasting (while camping) battery? Are AGM closed system batteries a good choice?

A good friend of mine is a Interstate battery dealer. He said that the AGM batteries would not be a good investment for the RVs. He did say that if we could come up with a battery rack, four 6 volt batteries would be best solution.

I've used Interstate deep cycle batteries and haven't had any problem. I think any name brand deep cycle would be ok.

6 Volt golf cart batteries are awesome - just need to overcome the ability to enclose and vent them in the front cabinet. They are too tall for thestandard battery box.

I had the dealer put me in two 27 series batteries from Walmart that never need checking. With the Walmart warranty when they go bad i can always find a store to replace them.
