Adding shocks to a redwood

I will be adding the Joy Rider bolt on shock kit to my rig. I have mad two trips with my rig since I took delivery and both times it bounced all over the road. it doesn't handle well on the back roads when it goes through the dips in the road. it seems to travel hi in the upward motion and comes down hard and sends a ripple affect to the truck It just so happens there was a DOT behind me and she stopped me and we went through the paper work. she made sure I was legal with weights and cut me loose but first she showed me the dash cam video boy did it raise my eyebrows. I told her I was on my way to Portland org. to have repairs and would have them take a look at the suspension. No real answers at the dealer but I have found the answer from a friend that had the same problem he add a shock kit and it solved the problem. If anyone has any feed back on this it will be greatly appreciated.

Check out the recent March 2016 issue of Trailer Life magazine. They just had a huge article featuring the installation of the Liberty Rider and Joy Rider II suspension system. Really good article and might give you some pointers on install.

Where did you get your shock setup from that is one of my next investments

Got it from Sonny he's the guy that designed it but he don't sell them direct to customers I got them when he first made them up I'll give him a call

Has anyone thought of lowering their rig by moving the axles from there current position under the leaf springs to being on top of the springs it would lower the rig 4 to five inches?

Man, I would think you would have trouble scraping the tail if you lowered it 4 inches.

I hit my hitch once - and it was at the Dealer believe it or not, on the day of delivery. They had just repaved the lot with some improved drainage. I get a little nervous about it back there because of my bike rack and sometimes I tow.

I used to have a travel trailer that I had to raise because the tail kept dragging on driveways. I wouldn't want to go through that again

I have not problem with my tail dragging. i have a lot more trouble with my front landing gear and my gen. tail pipe up front. I am towing with a two wheel drive and not a 4x4. That must make a lot of difference.

I snapped off the lower portion of my ladder getting into a campground. It seems I always need to be careful back there.

I suppose hitch height can tip the concern to the front or the back. These do have a low chest compared to my prior Montana.

The same thing happened to mine about 2 or 3 months after purchase.........broke off the bottom of the ladder up to the first mounting brackets. The problem was that I did not remember having been over any non-level ground and could not prove that I didn't cause it. I felt like it had been damaged before (somewhere between Redwood and delivery) I took delivery and just did not catch it during PDI. So, I ended up paying for a new ladder install at the factory service center in Syracuse when I had my first year inspection.

I have not had a problem since then, but, I do watch very carefully the approaches to an non-level ground because of the way that ladder's bottom run hangs down. It seems to me just another one those minor issues that the engineers did not think through very carefully. The ladder's bottom rung could easily be 6 inches higher and would not be an issue for anyone.

My last rv was a Alfa GOLD 38 FT. 5er and it had two 3 inch steel wheels bolted to the frame. The wheels keep the rear of the rig from bottoming out on the pavement. I have felt them roll on the pavement when going out the camp grounds. I am going to add them to my rig soon.

I was looking if I could raise my Redwood up about 6 inches. The generator exhaust pipe hangs awfully low, and the drain line is low enough that the camp sewer ends up either at the level of the drain, or is even higher.

I would question 6"... Measure your total height B-4 going that high...i bet your close to 13'3" already....
