39 MB Shower Doors

We've had our 39 MB for nearly 4 months now and have had 3 shower doors shatter while traveling in this time. The doors appear to be safety glass but still have sharp edges. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone have a solution? I don't want to just have Redwood replace the doors with the same material only to have it happen again. I guess plexiglass might work but don't know how to go about having them replaced.

Just curious on what Redwoods explanation was for the past ones that shattered and was it just one section or all? Did they install anything different to correct the problem?

Wow, we have a new 39MB and have pulled it about 1900 miles in the last two months with no issue with the shower doors. Part of that was all across Oklahoma, the roughest road I have ever pulled across. I am sure you must have had them locked into place? Just making sure. I did know of another person with a Landmark that had this issue once and they put a dowel rod in the bottom track to make sure they couldn't move. Hope that helps!

Shower door

Thanks for the replies. The first time it broke was when we took possession and drove 10 miles to our 1st RV park for a 3 day shakedown. We had many problems, including one shattered shower door panel. Our dealer sent a guy out and fixed everything. Since then, January this year, we have taken it on 3 trips totaling approximately 5000 miles. The second door panel broke on a bad road between Ship Rock, NM, and Cortez, CO. The third door panel broke on smooth roads between Abilene, TX and home. Redwood doesn't know about the 2nd and 3rd door panels yet as we just got home yesterday. I'm going to take it into the local dealer soon. The door was latched the 1st and 2nd times but not the 3rd because it was the panel with the lock that broke the 1st two times. I went out and bought a big bungee cord that was loose and soft and went around both remaining panels. I thought it would work until the 3rd panel broke.

Just a thought, check and see if the door is hanging deep in the bottom track. If for some reason it was hung close to the top of the bottom track it may be jumping completely out of the bottom track.

The shower doors have to be tempered glass by law, and as such when they break should have broken into a million little pieces. It takes hours to vacuum all the crap it makes. Tempered safety glass has to have finished edges or it will break in the oven while tempering, so it shouldn't be sharp or unfinished.
Something else is going on there as I've towed about 300 miles after forgetting to lock the doors down. They slid from side to side for hours and were not broken when we arrived.
Having said that any local shower door company can make them out of plexiglass but they water stain faster and look like crap in a matter of months.

Shower Door

i took my rig into the closest Redwood dealer today. I'll post what they say about the problem. I really appreciate the posts and suggestions. This was one of 7 problems I gave them. The most critical was the brakes. We've owned several trailers but this one has, by far, the least effective brakes of all.

RWs are heavy and instead of making the Outside TV a mandatory option, Disc Brakes should be a mandatory option, really should just be standard.
Once you have Disc on an RV, you'll never go back to Electric Drums.

x2 Ours had electric brakes when we got it. I blew through a couple of intersections and had a couple of times when someone pulled out in front or cut me off and wasn't sure if we could stop.

When we did the IS, MorRyde also put the Disk brakes on. Let's just say that I couldn't imagine being without them and if ordering a new one, it would be the first box that gets checked. I also agree, should be standard on coaches this heavy.
